Aussie A playing a series of games in the tropics during summer. Ryan Harris to be bowling coach is interesting and positive (he has expressed a strong desire to get into coaching).

I reckon they've done well in squad selection, stating specifically its not the 2nd best Aussie side, but as much a development team, thus the selections of Whiteman and Nevill ahead of Wade and Paine.

Also mentioned White being picked to work on his spinners.

Good squad I reckon

The preliminary squad is: Jason Behrendorff (WA), Cameron Boyce (QLD), Tom Cooper (SA), Pat Cummins (NSW), Ben Cutting (QLD), Alex Doolan (TAS), James Faulkner (TAS), Callum Ferguson (SA), Peter Forrest (QLD), Josh Hazlewood (NSW), Moises Henriques (NSW), Phillip Hughes (SA), Chris Lynn (QLD), Mitchell Marsh (WA), Peter Nevill (NSW), Steve O’Keefe (NSW), Kane Richardson (SA), Chadd Sayers (SA), Mitchell Starc (NSW), Cameron White (VIC), Sam Whiteman (WA).

Good squad. Ryan Carters is probably a little unlucky to miss out after a very good debut shield season. The squad they've picked looks a little skinny on openers too.

Hopefully these games decide who the second spinner for the Pakistan series is later in the year. In my opinion Steve O'Keefe has been very hard done by in the last couple of years. Consistent performance in shield cricket and we keep picking short form specialists to act as Lyon's backup.

Glad they're giving Boyce a crack ahead of Agar.

very good point about openers and I agree with you about SOK. I'm surprised he hasn't had more opportunity. Incidentally, is he related to Skull?

I don't believe he is any relation to Skull.

Maybe the thought is to play Doolan and Hughes as openers. It's inevitable that Rogers won't be around for that much longer. The Ashes in 2015 would surely be the limit.

This squad might be a bit short on openers but, by crikey, it's got some firepower in the fast-bowling department.

Not sure if anyone is keeping up with this tour but the 2 WA boys in the team have just dug aus a out of a massive hole in record style.

They put on371 for the 7th wicket partnership which is the second highest in 1st class history.

Whiteman came to the crease with Australia at 6/99 and just got out for 174 with Mitch marsh currently on 208.

Fantastic work from the young fellas!
