    thank you:
The Victorian government today will announce a massive rugby union deal that will bring Test matches to Melbourne on an almost yearly basis, but which also targets grassroots rugby, in particular the Pacific Islander community.
This was the deal that helped swing the Australian Rugby Union to support the Melbourne Rebels, leaving the Western Force to wither on the vine after being cut loose from Super Rugby. Annoyingly, though, the Victorian government is keeping the dollar value of the deal a secret, deeming it to be commercial in confidence.
Certainly the Western Australia government, which previously had volunteered to fast-track a $5 million commitment to the ARU for the 2019 Bledisloe Cup Test in Perth in order to save the Force, would surely have been highly interested in the Victorian figure..
The high point of the new deal is the securing of six Melbourne Tests over the next eight years, starting with Ireland during the next June window. As well, Victoria has also secured the 2020 Bledisloe Cup match and a Test against the British and Irish Lions when next they tour Australia in 2025.
But it is at the grassroots level that the money is most needed, and the Victorian Minister for Sport John Eren joined local MP Luke Donnellan at the Fountain Gate Secondary College to announce a $500,000 upgrade of one of its rugby pitches. The college’s academy has more than 100 students in its rugby program and today’s announcement will build on the $200,000 the Labor government has already spent on the academy’s strength and conditioning room."

That's great news for the Fountain gate college. I watched my Grandson play in the local U13 comp today in coastal regional NSW. We have 200 juniors, 2 Colts and three open grades with a population of 15000 and no financial assistance outside local sponsorship.
My point is : Well run Rugby clubs thrive on shoestrings, spend the money on the grass roots and watch the miracle. Top down is a downer.

Just looked at a job advert for Rugby Australia, it implies we will be playing Ireland again at home next season.

Looks like Raelene should have stepped of the right foot rather than the left foot.

Liberal senator Eric Abetz said the Coalition owed Rugby Australia "a bit of gratitude . because their ham-fisted approach to Israel Folau clearly elevated the issue and concerned many, many people".

To be called “Folau’s Law” or would it be more appropriate to call it “Castle & Clyne’s Law”.

Not sure if this is the right forum to post this in. This week I attended a few events for National Reconciliation Week and coupled with the ARU's unveiling of the Indigenous jersey that will be worn at this years RWC as an alternate strip, the recent successes of the Lloyd McDermott Foundation rugby program predominantly in NSW as well as QLD Reds recent partnership announcement with Deadly Choices, it got me and a few others thinking how awesome it would be to have a National Indigenous select XV, similar to the Maori All Blacks. I understand the depth wouldn't yet match such a representative squad, but i'm sure any such team would be able to compete respectably at say a tier 2/3 level and it would provide many other benefits to the game such as promotion to a wider audience etc. I know it would be logistically tough and the depth of Indigenous talent across all positions isn't there just yet, but i'd definitely buy a ticket to watch such a spectacle! Thoughts?

    Potential Squad:
    1. Cody Walker, NSW Waratahs
    2. Saia’a Fainga’a, London Irish (Tongan / Aboriginal)
    3. Robbie Abel, Melbourne Rebels (Maori / Aboriginal)
    4. Rory Arnold, ACT Brumbies
    5. Richard Arnold, Stade Toulousain
    6. Joel Bates, Flanker, North Brisbane
    7. Colby Fainga’a, Connacht (Tongan / Aboriginal)
    8. Jordan Goddard , Gordon
    9. Moses Sorovi, Queensland Reds
    10. Kurtley Beale, NSW Waratahs
    11. George Morseu, Eastern Suburbs - I believe he is the brother of Moses Sorovi and is close to signing with Brumbies?
    12. Maurice Longbottom, Australian Sevens
    13. Anthony Fainga’a, Kinetsu Liners (Tongan / Aboriginal) – I know recently retired, however played in 2019
    14. John Porch, Connacht - Leaving AU7s for Connacht.
    15. Andrew Muirhead, ACT Brumbies
    16. Pompy Toolis, GPS - Played a few premier grade games this year for GPS
    17. Charles Abel, Gordon (Maori / Aboriginal)
    18. David Henaway, Northern Suburbs - Previous Brisbane NRC player, now playing Shute Shield
    19. Daniel Chui-Clarke, GPS - Looked good for GPS until injuring the shoulder, big 2020 expected
    20. Keith Morgan, Queanbeyan
    21. Kyle Blackman, South Brisbane
    22. Harrison Goddard, Melbourne Rebels

My guess is that someone with that same name as you is the manager of the Souths 6th Grade team and the club has given the wrong bloke the admin. You have a Rugby ID I assume? There are many teething problems with the new system but it is much better that the old one. For example they said it was mandatory to include the coaches and managers on the team sheet (rightly so they could verify their qualifications etc) but there isn't actually a 'spot' (it's 100% electronic) to do that. We reported this issue in February and it still isn't fixed!

And a solution to Australian rugby's woes presents itself!

Two hardy souls who know something about sports administration merely have to change their names to Cameron Clyne and Raelene Castle and wait for the genuises at RA to give them systems access. Once done, they can arrange to have the locks to the boardroom suite changed, move in under cover of darkness, and effect a bloodless coup of the whole organisation.

    So, who's game?

Gees sign that RA are really on the nose when their former pro RA rugby journalist Wayne Smith is now hammering RA with a lot of contempt - today’s article in the Australian clearly shows a lot of contempt for RA.

It appears that the day of reckoning for RA may come sooner that this. Israel Folau has filed action in the Fair Work Commission under Section 772 of the Fair Work Act for unlawful dismissal. $10 million compensation is being sought for damages.

If anyone has been following the recent insights into Folau’s hearing over the past week, including the 7 breaches he was found guilty of (the actual breaches, not what everyone thinks he was sacked for), his own admission of guilt, and total backflip regarding his social media posting.....

I’m not sure how solid his case is......

But that’s all for a locked thread.

Pretty decent allocation, I know it is not as simple as cost per player but $7000 per player for facilities on private property seems pretty good. (based on 100, article does not say how many more than 100 are playing)

That thread has been sealed in a concrete box and thrown into the Tasman Sea.

One day, it's bound to wash up on the Pitcarin Islands.
