"The Pub Group manager Craig Power said craft and low-calorie beers were making solid inroads into the market locally.
“At the end of the day it’s all about marketing and every company is fighting against the others for the next big product,” Mr Power said.
“When I started out in the industry there were only four beers and now you could easily have 30 on tap if you wanted to."

"Publican Liam Matthews, who runs two inner-city venues - Fitzroy's Old Bar and the Public Bar in North Melbourne - refuses to serve on tap any beers owned by CUB or Lion Nathan.
Even in trendy Fitzroy, his venue faced a backlash from patrons when it stopped serving Carlton Draught on tap. But eventually Matthews says ''they just got over it''.
''We stuck it out and we are doing really well again with our beers.''

Good on him. The dominance of the big two is a scourge.

SABMiller knocked back AB InBev. Not that it matters, mainstream brewers worldwide are feeling the strain with craft brews pounding their traditional markets.

SAB Miller have agreed in principal to the takeover proposal.

It's going to get a lot of scrutiny by the various monopoly/competition watchdogs around the world though.

November going to be a very wet month here in Brisbane. MOA Session Pale Ale is the $10 six pack beer of the month at Dan Murphy's.
