Ok, I'm staking my territory. This will be my team and this will be their thread, for information updates, team news, rumors, whatever.

Let's start.

I need name suggestions first. Assuming Brisbane City Tornadoes is out?

Flora/Fauna = Brisbane City Bullsharks (with permission sort from the mighty Taylor Bridge Bullsharks); Brisbane City Bats; Bush Turkeys; Kookaburras; etc

Adjectives/associations: Brisbane Heat; Brisbane Storm; Brisbane Thunder; Brisbane Sweat; Brisbane Lightning.

Identities: What about ex-players? Brisbane City Crofties; Brisbane City Moons; Brisbane City Hardmans; Brisbane City Slacks; Brisbane City Kefus; Brisbane City Knuckles.

Home Ground: Ballymore

Coach: Steve Meehan - perhaps with Mick Heenan and or Shane Arnold and or Pat Richards (etc etc)

Possible Reds: JJ Tualagi; Chris Kurindrani; Chris Feauai Sautia; Ben Tapuai; Lachie Turner; Mike Harris; Nick Frisby; Jake Schatz; Liam Gill; Ed Quirk; Dave McDuling; Ed O'Donaghue; Jono Owen; James; Hanson; Albert Anae; Curtis Browning.

Wallabies Aligned: James Horwill;

Jersey colours: Brisbane has traditionally been blue and gold.

Suggestions as to club players welcome.

Good initiative and good luck. I will be a NSW country supporter - but I like your ideas. Especially the name the Brisbane "Knuckles". (Any chance he can step up to coach them?)

The Brisbane Gamblers. A play on Bris-Vegas. Could attract some Casino sponsorship. Are they allowed to sponsor sports teams or are they like the Tobacco companies? Could also be a dig at JO'N and whatever casino mob he is with.

Alternately The Brisbane Nobodies. What was the Qld tourism campaign, QLD - "Beautiful one day, Perfect the next".
Patron - Nobody.

What's wrong wth just leaving it as Brisbane city ffs. Being the city team playing out of ballymore is a strong identity in itself,
Call it "Brisbane" but get rid of the "City"—IMO. It's got a soccer connotation (I like soccer but it's just not rugby).

There is a history of city-country games in rugby, and in rleague, for that matter, but IIRC the city team was known as Brisbane.

No need for some daft name or animal to be latched on straight away.
Maybe you have a point there, but these things tend to be seen as a void to be filled.

I don't mind a nickname/animal/mascot if it's a good one—with some link with the place and perhaps even keeps a bit of the history of the game in the region, in cases where there is some.

If sourced from the people who support the team then the results can be good—the recently formed Western Sydney Wanderers FC is an example of soccer getting it right. The fans had input to the colours and name, and so on.

Brisbane City Cats. Get council sponsorship and promote the weak public transport.

If Country is a real country side and not just GC/Bond uni I will support both. If it is GC then it will be City for me.
