    So does anyone know of common pre or post match drinking venues in Canberra, particularly for travelling fans?

    Any other Tahs fans heading down on Saturday night?

    Catch the bus to/from the stadium for free from the civic interchange, hit up pubs before and after.

    Wigg and Penn - microbrewery, good crowd, nice beers.
    Pj O'Reillys - typical pub, usually pretty good post match.
    King O'Malleys - another typical pub, live music, can get very crowded.

    For those with poor taste - Mooseheads is where most hedonists and brawlers end up.

    When the Crusaders scored the try in the incident I described earlier: in which AAC was involved , it was not his fault: it was Kingston's. Mind you, he was responsible for the Davidson try when the Tahs played the Rebels. The man he matched up against was already covered.

    Brumbies goal kicking - yeah, they've got the worst record in Super Rugby at 65% and the Reds aren't much better, being 2nd worst at 67%. Thanks to McKibbin's sterling efforts the Tahs now have the best percentage in Super Rugby at 82%. McKibbin himself is at 92%

    At the end of the day though, the most important stats are on the Conference table

    Tahs, in theory, should win but the Brums are at home, confident and playing well. Think it will be a high scoring game but whoever wins it will be very close.

    Funny that. You've pretty much just described every mate I have here in Newie that supports the Reds...:D

    On a serious note I'd say the Brumbies will win this game in a tight one. If the Tahs bring their play from the Crusaders game (minus the defensive & restart problems) then this could well be game of the round.

    1. The history of these games, which are usually dour slugfests.
    2. The dislocation of the Tahs backline at the moment.
    3. The location and time of year (at the very least it is likely to be dewey, could be foggy, snowy or rainy).
    4. The fact that a lot of the match-ups may determine Wallaby jerseys.
    then it is not very likely that this will be a high scoring and close game unless its 20 penalties to 19. For anyone expecting a try-fest - "tell him he's dreaming".

    Can anyone remember the last "try-fest" game between these two? 2004 when Shepherd scored down the wing to win it for the Tahs near the hooter springs to mind but surely there's been a ripper game since then?

    We smashed the Brumbies 41-7 at the end of last season.

    It's certainly not going to be a one sided contest like that this time around though.

    It was a very different Brumbies team last season…. The score last season is less relevant to the outcome than the bus timetable to the ground. however I do think it will be within 12 points. Brumbies are on a roll. they'll win

    These two teams will throw the kitchen sink at eachother. I would expect lots of ten man rugby in this one. Brumbies to win a close one. I say that because I think they will do it on the back of superior fitness. They concentrate better than the Tahs and don't drift in out out of games like the Tahs do.

    Saw the Tahs train this morning. It's hard to say who will be starting in the 22 if they are rotating players to deal with 2 six day turnarounds in a row (there's not many outside the 22 who are available except KBH and Greg Peterson) because they were swapping bibs in the drills.

    Fat Cat has a calf problem and didn't train but it's an impact thing not a strain - he got 7 stitches in it. He should be fit for Saturday as should be Kepu who looked very dusty coming off the field on Sunday. In hindsight that's why Tilse was scrumming at LHP and Ulugia at THP at the end of the game. I can't remember JU ever packing down on that side before.

    Ulugia fell down in his first scrum against the Saders; the ball squirted out and Pretorius scored. Tilse hinged down at LHP in the 2nd scrum and despite the recommendation of Assistant Referee, Richie McCaw, he was not pinged.

    It ended up OK but it proved that the injury to Paddy Ryan could be problematic. It's a far cry from this time last year when the Tahs had Cat, Kepu, Baxter and up and coming Ryan in the squad; so I hope our starters can play most of the game.

    Tom Carter has an injured foot and may be in doubt if it doesn't improve. I asked him why he was training and not resting it. He said that he had to train to make amends for Sunday; so maybe it isn't too bad. He said he was distraught about his performance last time because he prided himself on his defence.

    I told him that shit happens and that the problem is not the problem - it's how he deals with it that could be the problem. He agreed; good fella, Tom.

    Alcock is recovering well and will likely play against the Bulls. He won't play against the Brumbies.

    Gregg Mumm. the coach co-ordinator, and also responsible for defence. played a straight bat about the defensive performance last Sunday. He also mentioned that the Brumbies had played a typical Jake White game for most of the season but in the RSA they switched to a more expansive attack; so the Tahs had plans to cope with that.

    Mitchell and Turner were running up and down over 50 metres and also doing some agility stuff. They didn't run at top speed but Mitchell didn't look too far off. Lachie was very proppy.

    Lee, I always enjoy reading your posts, especially these ones about what's happening at training. It wouldn't surprise me if some of the competing teams read them. Have your thought of making up a fake game plan that Foley or Mumm 'told' you ;)
