Been reading through the 'predicted CAS team' everyone seems to like O'Reilly and Rice in the front row. Has everyone lost their minds? how do you expect second rowers and flankers to perform in the front row when they are against a heavier, stronger and a more experienced prop. Have we all just forgotten about actual props. I am aware that Rice has had experience in the front row but any good prop would be able to manipulate him because of his height. Thoughts?
When i was watching Barker on their ACT tour i realised Jordan Cameron is someone to be scared of from Barker. The 95kg second rower is great in the lineouts but not only that puts huge hits on every time someone runs at him. When he carries the ball he gets over the advantage line and he sure does use his height to his advantage. Also his combinations with alex veivers are potentially the best Barker has seen in a 16s age group in recent times. He was half the reason why Barker was so successful on tour. Jordan is a definite in the CAS 16s second row position.

Waverley lost 29-7 v shore and looked very sloppy, especially in the backline.
The forwards were alright against a pretty big pack and Waverley backs have the depth they just need to figure out how to use it. they should consider making some tough changes in the backline if they want to be successful, especially with the halves and centers.

29-12 was the full time score and i do agree with the fact that Waverley backs where sloppy out there, definently outgunned by the kings backs who where fast off the line in defence creating lots of pressure. i do believe that the Waverley forwards were dominant against the kings forwards though, especially in set piece, Waverley winning many tightheads and even getting a couple of penalties at scrum time.

Barker backs made many line breaks from within own half. IMO Sam Kirwan best of the backs. Vass strong running and kicking game but needs to learn to value possession and look to link up. McCoy similarly fast on the wing but wasn't always sure what to do when tackled (appeared to injure elbow late in the game). Williamson sound at 12. Cameron solid in the second row - Shore threw to back of line out so Barker couldn't capitalise on his height. Pollard, Galloway and Wilson played in 1sts - anyone know how they went?

Pollard played only one half as he is slowly coming back from his knee problem however looked very solid while playing. Dane had probably his best game in barker colours while galloway did a couple of try savers that helped save the match.
nice team, the players you have mentioned are highly likely to make the team, but its still early days. Although you seem to have some of the positions mixed up like O'Reilly at prop he's a great player with plenty of size but definitely not good enough to be a front rower. Cameron and O'Reilly would be the ideal starting second row combination. Also love the choice of Kirwan in the team and not just jumping on the bandwagon. If your looking for another halfback Vuki from trinity could be an option with plenty of speed and footwork.

Im hearing alot of talk about these new CAS players and imported ect... I went and watched the U16 match between Knox and View and the Knox team were dominant the entire match; yes there were two Knock intercept tries from the Knox team but they had more than 80% possession and territory throughout the match. They didn't execute their set plays but when they did they made plenty of meters. Some boys that should seriously be considered for the CAS U16 team. 1.Will Kablau - 110Kg (Power Runner and a very smart front row who is fit and seems to play very well), 5. Olli Hughes (105kg, 6'5 and also a very fit and smart rugby player who has a good pass, run and play on him), 6/7/8 Oscar Cheal (85kg very fit and fast player who always dominates his opposite number) 9. Tom Constable (70kg, great pass on him and is very agile when he has a run with the ball, has good vision and box), 13. Ollie Evans (Very Quick with the ball and also great handling and allusive when he plays, scored the winning tries against riverview). These boys should seriously be up in the ranks, any thoughts on them?

After watching the Barker 16A’s vs Shore match I have decided to make a quick summary on the game.It was evident that Barker was the more drilled team than Shore. In the lineouts Barker would dominate on both attack and defence. In the backs, Shore was very unorganised in defence and barker was capitalising on that. The Shore backs had limited plays and their ball skills needed some improvement. Although, their centres did use their pace to their advantage running round the barker powerhouse centres a few times. The Barker backs had crisp handling skills and had a very extensive playbook creating an overlap against the final Shore defender on multiple occasions. A standout player in the backline was the Barker fullback Lucas Vass. He outran his opponent many times and created very good chances. The Barker forward pack was dominant in the scrums and rucks. With J Turner coming back from a knee injury now in the front row at loosehead prop being stronger than ever, him combining with H Slack-Smith at hooker is a deadly combo and something for other teams to watch out for. Another combo to watch out for is the veivers cameron combination. There was strong ball running from all players especially C Every. He made many outstanding runs looking strong with ball in hand. With the forwards getting that good go forward getting over the advantage line, the backs were able to run their moves with the defence flat footed. The barker defence was very good as there was only one try let allowed in the last play off a lineout gone wrong. In the final minutes of the game, R McCoy suffered a broken arm. This will put him out for about 3 months but give B Lloyd or L Gilbert a good opportunity..Overall, Barker was the much better team of the two and has a very good looking season ahead of them. End score: Barker 16a’s 33 - Shore 16a’s 5.

I agree that Oscar Cheal would perform well at CAS level. Maybe a bench spot as there are many vying for the flanker positions (Wilson, Molloy, Pollard, Breden, Perego, etc). The question is whether Will Kablau has the necessary mongrel to keep the likes of Nick Jones under control.

I've not heard of Ollie Evans before. Is he new?? Ollie Kourtout played in this position last year, whilst Ollie Griffiths played 14 and/or 15. Oliver clearly a popular name down Wahroonga way.
