I know it might be a bit early but has anyone been to the game and is able to post a bit of a match report

Was disappointing to find out at 4pm that the game was moved to Ballymore. Called for a change in travelplans etc, then you get there and the game was to be played on field 2 under very poor lighting. Gave the whole affair a blow off feel.
Country came out very fired up and hit the ground running. Tried to put the pressure on City and did so for the first 5 or so minutes then the city attacked. Lineout on Countrys line was a solid take by City which led to a rolling maul over Countries tryline. City backs then pressured Country breaking their line - Country kept rushing up out of their line. Poor lighting made it hard to see who was who much of the time. Country had their moments which led to a few tries but City won having scored 4 tries to Countries 2 or 3. Lost a bit of focus toward the end as we started discussing the up coming Reds game. Sorry, not much of a report.

What a rookie era by Suncorp Stadium. I'm guessing they scheduled the game thinking they could host it only to be pushed for time trying to get the oval right after the Broncos v Warriors game the night before.

I'd say the poor weather in the lead up was behind this decision, gotta protect those fields

City claim bragging rights with victory over Country​

The annual City v Country grudge match lived up to expectation with City coming out on top in a physical 26-12 affair at Ballymore on Saturday night.
The relocation of the game to Ballymore from Suncorp Stadium failed to impact on a highly entertaining spectacle with the match, pitting the best Rugby talent from the Country against their City counterparts, going down to the wire.
Country were looking to repeat their 2011 heroics with an upset win over City however the City backline, which was laced with the best players from the Queensland Premier Rugby competition, proved too much to handle as they crossed for four tries through some slick backline play.
Carlos Gavidi, Adam Preocanin, Shane Seiuli and Lyall Fidow all crossed for City in the entertaining affair.
Try-scoring lock Preocanin and winger Seiuli were among the best on ground for City while Country captain Jono Bradbury was a standout in a losing side.
Country had their opportunities throughout the match and trailed by only 12-5 at the break before City made the most of their possession in the second half, where they added a further two converted tries to go along with their impressive defensive form.
In the end Country were only able to cross the line twice through Vitori Tomu Buatava and Earnest Suavai.
Heelers coach Tom Rosewarne said he was pleased with the effort from the Country side.
“I thought both teams stepped up and left nothing in the tank. The scoreboard probably doesn’t reflect just how tight a contest it really was with City pulling away at the end,” Rosewarne said.
“While it wasn’t a repeat of our 2011 upset against City I was proud of the effort from the Country guys and it will put us in good stead heading into our match against Queensland Suburban next week.”
The City v Country program is a great way for the best of Queensland’s Rugby talent to experience a higher level of Rugby and operates as an important part of Queensland Rugby’s development pathway.
The Queensland Country program will move back to the Country next weekend with the Heelers taking on Queensland Suburban in Goondiwindi for the fourth and final match of their 2012 representative program.
In the full days program, Toowoomba Bears take on the Goondiwindi Emu’s, with the ‘A’ grade Risdon Cup match starting at 3.00pm and the Heelers match kicking off at 5.00pm.​
