Laidlaw has named his 13 Men & guaranteed victory in Dubai by including Andrew Knewstubb - Horowhenua Kapiti :)

http://www.allblacks.com/News/33468/all-blacks-sevens-looking-to-start-strong-in-dubai

Tim Mikkelsen will miss the first two legs due to the imminent arrival of his first child. He'll be missed. Also missing Joe Ravouvou who needs to become a NZ citizen & as he's not a Czech drug smuggler* our Immigration Minister hasn't fast-tracked him. We do get Regan Ware back from Maori AB duties, though.

* Google Karel Sroubek & prepared to be "wtf?"d.

Women's team also named:

No Portia as above but also no Niall Williams who's also injured & will also be a big loss, offset somewhat by getting Broughton & Waaka back. Also keep an eye out for Risi Pouri-Lane who captained NZ at the recent Youth Olympics. Probably won't get many minutes unless there's injuries but she's definitely a player with a big career ahead of her.

Excellent team for the Aussies.

Our challenge will be filling the play making void left by the departure of Stannard. Are Holland, Longbottom and potentially McNamara up to it?

Great to see Liam McNamara back by the way. He had improved out of sight before he did his ACL.

Pools for Cape Town:

A: New Zealand, South Africa, Samoa, Zimbabwe
B: USA, Argentina, Spain, Japan
C: England, Fiji, France, Kenya
D: Australia, Scotland, Canada, Wales

No draw yet but you'd imagine SA v NZ will be last up on Day 1.

EDIT: confirmed by sport24:

"The defending World Rugby Sevens Series champions will face the reigning Rugby World Cup Sevens and Cape Town Sevens champions at 19:56 on Saturday in front of a packed Cape Town Stadium in the final encounter of 24 matches on the day."

I think that's 4:56 AEDT, 6:56 NZDT?

Caslick likely to be out for Sydney.

Haven't heard about Sykes' injury, but if she's gone too then we are dramatically short on play makers.

Draw for CT is up:

https://www.world.rugby/sevens-series/stage/1878/fixtures

Trael Joass, Etene Nanai-Seturo and Taylor Haugh are heading over from NZ as injury replacements for Baker, Rokolisoa, Dickson, and Curry who've flown home. Jona Nareki and Regan Ware have flown down with the rest of the team & are likely to be available (they'd best be: EN-S had to be released from pre-season Chiefs duties & Joass was the only fit & contracted player still in NZ).

Nearly sold out at CT stadium. SA & NZ in the same pool. Can expect fireworks from the Blitz Bokke.

I think Boks will win the group. But don't write off Samoa -- they are the fittest and sharpest theyve been since they won the series -- whats was it? -- about 7-8 years ago?

^ NZ, having lost 17-21 to Samoa earlier in the day, down 14-21 to SA with 30 sec left & looking at failing to make the Cup QF for the first time ever score twice to snatch it 26-21. Gotta feel for Samoa who'll miss out on PD.

Yah, they took it easy against zimbabwe. Good learning experience for the young squad.
