Is anyone able to justify this:
Mr Thomson is alleged to have used $196,000 of union members' funds to employ two people to help with his campaign to win the Central Coast seat of Dobell for Labor in 2007, with another $71,300 alleged to have been spent directly on the campaign.

How do the member of the union benefit from Thomson being elected to parliament? Even if, as seems to be the case, this is within the electoral commission guidelines, how is it a legitimate use of union funds?
