Judging by bbc today I am worried for lancasters sanity. Seems to believe the awful experiment of Farrell at centre was a success. Why the hell wouldn't you play a specialist centre on bench.

Must've been confused by team wearing welsh kit. And what self respecting England fan is going to rush out and by a red shirt even with a big rose? Marketing genius

however, I do query the IRB (sorry, World Rugby) ranking methodology when it allowed Argentina to slip to 12th (behind Japan & Fiji amongst others) and Ireland to accumulate points for beating Georgia..

Although it obviously isn't accurate, I think this falls more into the category of problems with the fixture list rather than problems with the ranking system given the Argies are still being baptised in the blood bath of the RC.

I only caught the second half of the England game but England were woeful against a Samoa team thats even more all over the place than usual with all this union trouble going on in their camp.

England in the last three years have gone from having absolutely no creative options in the centres to having the best in Europe. Tuilagi, JJ, Eastmond, Burrell, 36 etc its ridiculous. Barritt I can understand for some games tactically, but both him and an off form Farrell is a bloody waste. Eastmond and JJ can rip open most defences given a chance, Samoa would surely of been a fantastic game to give them more caps and more confidence.

It's not like Eastmond or JJ have shown much in terms of consistent performance at test level. Eastmond is starting to come good but still has a bit of a road to travel down.

36 has been woeful in his time for England.

Barritt is Barritt.

Only Tuilagi and then Burrell to a far lesser degree could be considered high performing centers at test level.

None of the above makes playing fluffybunny face Farrell in the centers acceptable or rational, though.

If Tuilagi ever strings together a full season without injuring himself again I think their best bet going into the 6 Nations is some permutation of Tuilagi/Burrell in the centers. Get those flyers in the back three running inside lines off the offloads and maybe some linebreaks will actually happen.

Especially so if Lancaster is going to keep selecting an imbalanced backrow that basically has two very mobile 6s in it - let them focus on securing the wide rucks with Tuilagi goes to ground at 13 and then recycle quickly (one of the things Care excels at, Youngs can do it too) before you attack the blind and put Nowell/Mays into some space without making the turn the corner before turning the rocket shoes on.

Coles/Launchbury really need to come back to make this all possible coming out of the tight-loose though - or the replacements need to remember how they were hitting rucks just a few months ago.

Ronald Reagan was a quite famous president of the USA.
he served two terms as president (1980-88) and usually tops public opinion polls in the USA when the question is: who was the greatest (or best) president?
prior to entering politics (first, as governor of California), he was a movie actor, most of the knowledgeable claiming he was a "B grade" actor. [...]

Ronald Regan was one of the harbingers of the end of sanity in American politics and facilitated the ass-fucking of our entire political-economic landscape in a way that very few Presidents have been able to match, either before or after his tenure in the White House.

Fuck Ronald Regan.

Wallabies did well in the 1st half in coming back to evens from 17 points down.
Ireland's discipline in defence very impressive.
Wallabies had 63% possession and territory in 2nd half and couldn't make any headway.
Thought they looked like a rudderless ship in a running tide.

Ruck data:

+ Hooper (80 mins) made 39 rucks, 28 early (72%)and 25 with impact (64%).
+ Carter (71 mins) made 36 rucks, 31 early (86%) and 33 with impact (92%).
+ Kepu (70 mins) made 34 rucks, 21 early (76%) and 19 with impact (56%).
+ Slipper (75 mins) made 33 rucks, 25 early (78%), and 23 with impact (56%).
+ Fainga’a (70 mins) made 29 rucks, 23 early (79%) and 24 with impact (83%).
+ Simmons (80 mins) made 24 rucks, 19 early (79%) and 19 with impact (79%).
+ McCalman (80 mins) made 23 rucks, 17 early (74%) and 20 with impact (87%).
+ Jones (53 mins) made 19 rucks, 14 early (74%) and 14 with impact (74%).

Off the bench
+ Schatz (27 mins) made 12 rucks, 10 early (83%) and 7 with impact (58%).
+ Hanson (10 mins) made 4 rucks, 4 early (100%) and 3 with impact (75%).
+ Robinson (5 mins) made 4 rucks, 4 early (100%) and 4 with impact (100%).
+ Skelton (9 mins) made 4 rucks, 4 early (100%) and 1 with impact (25%).
+ Faulkner (10 mins) made 3 rucks, 1 early (33%) and 1 with impact (33%).

Significant ruck contributions by Backs as follows:
To'omua – 17, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) – 15, Speight – 14, Kuridrani – 8, Foley – 8.

Comments:
+ Early engagement = 1st or 2nd to ruck.
+ Impact = active engagement, strong physical contact, changed shape of ruck, clean-out, etc.
(more than hand on someone's bum or playing statues.)
+Impact doesn't mean that the player was "menacing" at the ruck.
+Rucks stats gathered while watching replays of the game.

I like this analysis Forcefan so I have gone back to dig it out.
One thing I noticed on this is the combined total for the loose head lock position.
If you were to total the involvements of Carter and Skelton, then you get 40 rucks, with 35 early and 34 with impact.
This is heavy involvement on all levels and IMO points to good use of the bench.
Is this by design or is it simply a byproduct of the game.
To coach for this outcome, Carter would have to have been told to bust himself for 70. Meanwhile Skelton told you've got 10 mins to make an impact. This is probably harder to coach especially if the first thing they do is make a mistake from trying too hard.

fcuk him indeed.
an awful human being who did close to immeasurable harm, while using his acting skills to portray it all as great humanitarianism.

however, when the succession to him reads Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, it's a little harsh and misplaced to blame Reagan alone for (even a large part of) the slide in USA's political and government standards.

btw, is your mis-spelling his name a deliberate insult to Reagan?
that is something i occasionally do when i want to show my displeasure.
