There are a few joeys backs who'd put their hand up. Depending on how they want to juggle the positions wright would be good fit at fullback, psaltis is a solid good defensive centre and if they're looking for a winger no one was better in gps 16s this year than grant who is a speedster and try scorer.

Those three joeys boys would go well, wright had a great year. Don't know about fitness after long season grant played the last few games with a bad knee injury (still played superbly) A couple of scots boys would be considered too.

Psaltis is playing for Sydney. Grant didn't trial for Schools so unlikely. Wright maybe. Most Scots boys in either schools or Sydney.

Any predictions on how the comp will go this year, placings? How teams are looking strength and depth wise? Possible standouts, etc?

Sydney Juniors playing ACT in a trial today. Could be early pointer to form.

Sydney have already comfortably beaten NSW Country.

NSW Schools playing cards very close to their chest, but on paper seem to be evenly matched to Sydney Juniors, if not slightly ahead.

Any other trial results or reports from training?

Troll of the thread award. The NSW teams are very strong. You've unfairly
singled out one player, Richards, who is playing well in Kings 1sts. Last time I checked Kings 1sts are coming off 2 big wins.

The point is that there are many good players in NSW not selected and that the Jake Richards isn't the prophet that people say he is. Plus he wasn't in the team during the two good Kings wins (in the seconds)

Who said anything about being "the prophet"? That's just ridiculous hyperbole. The fact is that Kings thinks Richards is good enough to play opens & he's in the NGS and that more than qualifies him for selection in the schools team but for some petty reason you want to have a go at him publicly.

Your previous post also mentioned "Lots of politics" and now you state "that there are many good players in NSW not selected."

Perhaps you'd like to enlighten us with your opinions further in the "Selection politics and bias. Gold Squads unfairness etc." thread rather than cluttering this one in the lead up to the nationals.

Sydney Juniors beat ACT 31-25; 5 tries to 3. Few players out (forwards) injured/sickness. Bit scrappy.

Juniors tries to #11, #4, #14, #12, and #21. Conversions to #10 (1/3) and #21 (2/2).
ACT tries to #3, #14, #22. Conversions to #15 (2/3). PK to #15 (2/3).

Half time 12 -10 to Juniors.

Sydney Juniors lacked ruthlessness in this game, never really taking the opposition out of the game. They created more opportunities that were not turned into points, against a team I am guessing we're playing to win. (Based on the ACT choice to take some long range penalty goal options, not all of which were converted)
Sydney looked very much as though it was a pre-season match that had to be endured.
Each time Sydney scored they allowed a response in kind that meant the opposition was never more then 8 behind. The Sydney try on full time would have done little to discourage the ACT players from believing they are within reach of what may have been considered an unlikely win in the first round of the nationals in two weeks.

The return of the rested players may assist in putting a little more steel in the Sydney spine, if not add more than 30kg to the pack

To answer Sam Hauser, if NSW and Sydney play to their potential you could have a rewriting of the "gebung polo club" where the game is so even neither would gain the lead. Sydney should have the stronger pack and will be benefitted if they end up with a week of rain timed as well as the Knox weekend and the metropolitan zones.

If they play to their potential and not like Sunday.

I think Country lost ground last year with players heading to Qld, NSW and Sydney

Yes, NSW Country have lost players to various teams but as stated by one parent, the squad will be strengthened from that which played NSW City by the inclusion of Pernell Filipo and Adrian Chaplin who play club and zone together.

The team only have a training camp for the two days prior to the Nationals so don't expect miracles but then again :).

Bring out the deck chairs and rehydration aids! Can't wait.

Had heard the Victorian boys are big so might give Reds a run (and true them out for Sydney on Tuesday).
