With so many talented kids coming through a CCC 2s would be an ideal way to replace NSW Country Schools in the All Schools Trials. Last years CCC trials had plenty of good players miss out on the chance to step up and play at the higher level.

^^^^CHS have a 2nd XV for a very long time. Nothing new this year.

CCC 2nd XV may not be as competitive as AAGPS 2nd XV, or CAS 2nd XV, but they would most likely perform better than AICES, and be a suitable replacement for NSW Country Schools.

Stride is still eligible for 16s, so should walk into that side if he stays injury free. I can only comment on the Gosford boys: Abdullah & Grassby should be there with the former in the mix for a NSW spot. There are also a lot of Opens players from last year who are now in year 12, so I am tipping this year's CCC Open's side to be pretty formidable.

I hope the ARU selectors pay as much attention to the CCC trials as they have to CHS trials. The Australian Schoolboys scrum and set pieces were ordinary on the tour to New Zealand. There are plenty of talented players on show during these trials.

Good luck to the trialists for today and tomorrow.

Anyone able to provide updates from TG Millner?

Teams have been selected and should be available to view soon.
There was plenty of depth in the scrum half position and overall the side looks strong. I was a bit surprised however, as a few 'big names' who I thought should have walked in: Manu (Blacktown 7), Veluka (Blacktown 11), Abdullah (Gosford 12), Grassby (Gosford 3) were not selected. These boys are all 17s and will back up next year, however, they did enough from my point of view to feel a bit unlucky.

In the 16s I think they got the selections spot on with a few standouts over the two days: Dolly (Lismore 2), Gibson (Dubbo 7), and Stride (Gosford 9) all looked extremely sharp and Stride especially should push for higher honours; his service is quick from the ground and he spent the day screaming directions for his forwards - A good sign.

Looking forward to the tournament etc. and hoping to see CCC do well.

Over 100 boys turned out for both age groups, the opens had 5 teams trialing against each other. They were tight on hookers and a prop, so a few boys backed up with other teams. The quality of rugby improved as combinations formed and each group played as a team. Day 2 saw the final trials and a great game between the possibles and probables with a good quality open side selected that should be very competitive.

The quality of those selected must have been very good. I have feedback that at least 3 x SJRU U16's and 1 x NSW Schools U16 from 2014 missed out on the CCC U18's.

If the selections are any indication, they will miss fire power out wide and full game fitness and punch in the middle.

I believe they always pick 22, they did last year. Then a shadow 22 but nobody knows who is in the shadow team

Google tells me that these chaps are playing Senior Rugby around the traps, some in Sydney Colts, and others in Country Colts or Grade:

Daniel BOARDMAN, Xavier Catholic College (Skennars Head)
Playing #9 First Grade (starting and off the bench) with Lennox Head RUFC in the NSW Country RU Far North Coast Zone Competition.

Hamish FISHER, Xavier Catholic College (Skennars Head)
Playing #6 or #7 First Grade (starting) with Lennox Head RUFC in the NSW Country RU Far North Coast Zone Competition.

Max FREEMAN, De La Salle College (Cronulla)
Playing Colts 3 off the Bench with Southern Districts in the NSW Premiership Colts

Austin LATU, Patrician Brothers' College (Blacktown)
Playing Prop for Colts 3 and Colts 2 with West Harbour in the NSW Premiership Colts

Daniel LONERAGAN, Marist College (Eastwood)
Playing Centre for Colts 3 with Eastwood in the NSW Premiership Colts

Hamish MILNE, Bede Polding College (South Windsor)
Playing Lock for Colts 2 with Penrith in the NSW Premiership Colts

Brendan NEVILLE, Holy Spirit College (Bellambi)
Playing Lock for Colts 3 with Randwick in the NSW Premiership Colts

Patrick PELLEGRINI, Champagnat Catholic College (Maroubra)
Playing Colts 3 off the Bench with Randwick in the NSW Premiership Colts

Vaughan SANDRAL, St John's College Woodlawn (Lismore)
Playing starting #8 in Reserve Grade & (one round) starting #6 in First Grade with Wollongbar-Alstonville RUFC in the NSW Country RU Far North Coast Zone Competition.

Maxwell STEWART, St Edward's College (Gosford)
Playing starting hooker in Colts U19 AND starting hooker in First Grade (2 games per Saturday) with Avoca Beach RUFC in the NSW Country RU Central Coast Zone Competition.

These lads should bring good rugby experience to the CCC team, and be more comfortable playing games of a more physical nature than those playing Junior RU or in the School only environment.

Any others playing Senior (Colts or Grade) footy?

Last year there were 7 NSW CCC players involved in NSW Premiership Colts rugby.

I thought the selection process was fair, it's hard to get team work and combinations when individuals are trialing for positions. Strong defence from most boys shut down the opportunities that were created.
They will have a great scrum and lineout, the backs have pace and skill. Bring on the trial matches, i can't wait to see these boys play.
