The quality of those selected must have been very good. I have feedback that at least 3 x SJRU U16's and 1 x NSW Schools U16 from 2014 missed out on the CCC U18's.
They also didnt select a player who was injured for the trials but would have been good to go for the games and he has been playing 1st colts in Sydney and played NsW 17s last year. Just shows how many good players fall through the cracks because they are injured or sick at the wrong time

Google tells me that these chaps are playing Senior Rugby around the traps, some in Sydney Colts, and others in Country Colts or Grade:

Daniel BOARDMAN, Xavier Catholic College (Skennars Head)
Playing #9 First Grade (starting and off the bench) with Lennox Head RUFC in the NSW Country RU Far North Coast Zone Competition.

Hamish FISHER, Xavier Catholic College (Skennars Head)
Playing #6 or #7 First Grade (starting) with Lennox Head RUFC in the NSW Country RU Far North Coast Zone Competition.

Max FREEMAN, De La Salle College (Cronulla)
Playing Colts 3 off the Bench with Southern Districts in the NSW Premiership Colts

Austin LATU, Patrician Brothers' College (Blacktown)
Playing Prop for Colts 3 and Colts 2 with West Harbour in the NSW Premiership Colts

Daniel LONERAGAN, Marist College (Eastwood)
Playing Centre for Colts 3 with Eastwood in the NSW Premiership Colts

Hamish MILNE, Bede Polding College (South Windsor)
Playing Lock for Colts 2 with Penrith in the NSW Premiership Colts

Brendan NEVILLE, Holy Spirit College (Bellambi)
Playing Lock for Colts 3 with Randwick in the NSW Premiership Colts

Patrick PELLEGRINI, Champagnat Catholic College (Maroubra)
Playing Colts 3 off the Bench with Randwick in the NSW Premiership Colts

Vaughan SANDRAL, St John's College Woodlawn (Lismore)
Playing starting #8 in Reserve Grade & (one round) starting #6 in First Grade with Wollongbar-Alstonville RUFC in the NSW Country RU Far North Coast Zone Competition.

Maxwell STEWART, St Edward's College (Gosford)
Playing starting hooker in Colts U19 AND starting hooker in First Grade (2 games per Saturday) with Avoca Beach RUFC in the NSW Country RU Central Coast Zone Competition.

These lads should bring good rugby experience to the CCC team, and be more comfortable playing games of a more physical nature than those playing Junior RU or in the School only environment.

Any others playing Senior (Colts or Grade) footy?

Last year there were 7 NSW CCC players involved in NSW Premiership Colts rugby.

Liam Baker is the starting half for first grade, Terrigal (Jeremy Paul is coach). Good player who was picked to start at 10 for CCC, after doig so in last year's side.

^^^ Just checked the record and his first (and so far only) game for Terrigal was the day after I made the original post.

It appears that he was listed as the Terrigal #9.

Is his preferred position at halfback or flyhalf?

I would say 10, however, he has played 9 for the Central Coast rep side for years due to his versatility in both positions and also the fact that he's bigger then the other 9s, they liked his physicality at scrum half. He was, by far, the best 10 at the CCC trials and should do well at state.

CCC v CHS draw is out, with teams playing 2 games in the 3 team trial.
Forshaw Rugby Park 31/5/2015

u/16s CHS 11 v CCC 10am - 30 min.
CHS 11 v CHS 1 10.40am
CHS 1 v CCC 11.20am

u/18s CHS 11 v CCC 12.00 35min
CHS11 v CHS1 12.45
CHS1 v CCC 1.30

There should be some great match ups in these games. CHS have some very good players backing up from last year. The battle up front should be interesting with a big front row for CCC testing the reputation of the CHS boys. A dry ground will see some very exciting backs on both teams show their skills and put on a show for the crowd and selectors.

CCC go into camp tomorrow for 2 days so they should be well prepared for the game.

Scores from trials against CHS 1st XV and CHS 2nd XV round robin:

CCC 6 def CHS II 5 (2014: CCC 17 def CHS II 5)
CHSI 38 def CHS II 0 (2014: CHS I 12 def CHS II 5)
CHSI 28 def CCC 7 (2014: CHS I 17 def CCC 7)

Looks like there may be some more work to do on combinations. CCC will be better for the hit out and are usually more competitive against the ISA 2's when they have had more time together.

^^^All teams played 60 minutes of rugby in two halves.

It is just that each team only played the other mob for 30 minutes, before a new opponent arrived on the paddock.

Any score from U16s on Sunday?

CCC v CHS 2 - 3 tries to 1
CHS1 v CHS 2 - ~4 tries to 1
CCC v CHS1 - 3 tries to 1

Only watched the CCC games. Forwards matched up to a lot bigger opponents, backs cut them to pieces when the ball went wide.

CCC u16s look like a well balanced team with strong forwards who commit to the breakdown and defend well, the backs were outstanding, they moved the ball wide with slick passing and support. CHS had a good backline and created plenty of chances, only to shutdown with desperate defence. A good team and worth watching.

The u18s had some talent in all 3 teams. CHS 1 backs were the difference in both games scoring some very good tries and creating plenty of chances. The CCC boys matched it with CHS forwards and had some dominant periods throughout the game. CCC lineout was all over both opposition teams winning a lot of defensive lineouts, the scrums were fairly even with the CCC starting front row on top early. Entertaining rugby for their first hit out, both sides should be better next start with more time together forming combinations.

Is anyone going to Rat Park on Sunday that can give match reports, photographs, or score updates from U16's or Opens?

Match updates from G&GR correspondent in the stands at Rat Park

ISA up 14-0 over CCC at the moment.

Into the second half. Scores are ISA 19 - CCC 14

ISA've just gone over again to go up 26-14.

Another try to ISA 22. Lovely inside ball from 12 to 8 to make the break before good support running puts the winger over in the corner. Kick unsuccessful. 31-14 ISA.

CCC 23 rumbles over for a try close to the line 31-19 ISA.

CCC capitalize on some excellent support running to put 6 over under the post. 31-26 ISA.

It's a bit scrappy at times and no one is really standing out in the second half. CCC 9 has good delivery and knows when to run. ISA 10 is good but hasn't seen a lot of opportunity this half.

Just as I talk him up, CCC 9 puts himself on the end of some great team support running and scores. Kick unsuccessful. 31-31. CCC have the momentum.

Lovely use of the ball by ISA to run 60m in one phase and score in the corner. 19 gets the try. A wrap to ISA 2 who has been the most involved forward this half.

Final score ISA 36 defeat CCC 31.
