14 SJRU Competition rounds have been completed.
Round 14 declared a washout round, therefore all players are considered to have signed on for the round.

According to Buddha, the playing record of a club with four (4) players in the SJRU U16's and four (4) players in the Presidents XV has been:
Played: Rounds 1, 2, 3, 4, and 8. (5 Games Played)
Forfeit: Rounds 5,6,7,9,11, 12 and 13 (Dobbed in by a snitch). (7 Games forfeited)
Bye: Round 10 (This counts as a game played, even though it is in the middle of 3 forfeited games).
Washout: Round 14 (This counts as a game played).

Our lads under the microscope have met the minimum requirements to progress their Representative Careers, on the back of a Bye and Washout.

Only issue remaining is how a Team with 7 forfeits can still be considered as part of the Competition and not deemed to have withdrawn from the competition IAW rule 5.5.H)

5.5 Forfeits
H) The Competition Manager may disqualify any Team that forfeits three (3) or more Matches in a season. If a Team forfeits three (3) or more Matches in a season, they will be required to furnish an explanation to the Competition Manager as to why they should remain in the Competition. In this instance the Team will be deemed to have withdrawn from the Competition and Competition Rule 3.13 will apply and / or the Team will become ineligible to participate in the Final Series.

I can perhaps understand some rules being "interpreted" kindly if there is an intent to "keep the faith" with the SJRU through to the Under 17's, but by all accounts there is zero intent to continue with the SJRU "Pathway" into Under 17's/Opens.

Trying to keep the discussion objective. Chatswood lads have complied with the rules for eligibility for rep play.

I think the last paragraph is key.

Administer the rules favourably if it is going to result in a good long term outcome - more players and a higher standard of play in the U17's.

Not sure what this precedent and the 2014 amendment to eligibility requirements will do for U15 and U16 numbers in 2015 onward.

A lot will be riding on what the 2014/25 version of JGC looks like, and the 2015 version of U16 Invitational, plus any other realignments or resurfacing of "The Pathway".

You have rules or you don't.

If we want open slather, let's make that the rule - no qualification, no nothing, just pick who you want.

If we want rules which limit participation to bona fide participants in the relevent SJRU competition, then only those boys should be picked.

The current system is just a shambles, which sort of is the way junior rugby is run anyway isn't it?

HJ to put a different slant on it the boys played 7 of their first 13 games however one of these due to " dob gate " was deemed a forfeit.
On Sunday before the weather called a halt to it, the boys were organised to play in a 3 way (slightly shortened time) against Wahroonga and Penrith. This would of allowed Penrith to make up the Wahroonga game that had been put on hold and to have a good hit out with chatswood before the finals. That would have made it 9 games played out of a possible 14.
Thanks to a bunch of mates who "brought their boots" to make up numbers.

Great to see one of the new NRC clubs supporting the junior rep programs. Greater Sydney Rams are lending their name to the U16 Western Zone invitational squad who will play in the NSW invitational tournament on the October long weekend as the Greater Sydney Junior Rams. Believe they will also be supporting with some of the gear for the lads.

That is a fantastic initative by the Rams. Hopefully some of the other NRC teams may follow suit especially with the probable and impending changes in the 16's and Opens Comp's that are being discussed. Lots of thoughts coming to mind about how you could structure the comp.....mmmmmm.....will put pen to paper on this and come back to you

Very good team although I thought Jordan Morris was the best 12 at the school carnival.

To break down the whole forward pack

The Front row seems to be quite big and strong with Wayland (CAS) and Afu(ISA) those two seem unbreakable, Crotti quite short but domanint and has a good throw (GPS)

The Second Row are monsters, Brown (GPS) Margin (CAS), both around same size and build, watched them in the final both have good attacking and defence (would like to see Margin run abit more.. looks like he has quick feet)

The back row Hingano(ISA) and Serhon(GPS), quite little mobile machines , quite fast and work hard at the break down while Basson (CAS) is an allrounder with the attacking skills of a centre and defence of a whole foward pack

Brownie , you seem to have good insight into the All Schools side, any news on Sydney or Greater Sydney Junior Rams. Was hoping to get out and watch

A warm afternoon down at Tg Milner with Allschools set to verse the rams mind you both teams coming out of close wins. From the first whistle MsW looked dominant scoring the first few tries, when rams almost got a sniff from a line break out of no where milan basson (8) came through and made a try saving tackle. The game went on when hugh margin (5) took a hit up ball going in under the post with leo bosch (15) clearing it by miles, and basson taking a good whole ball from (10) to go right underthe post-half time 20 or 30-0
Second half NSW kicked out with a huge hit by edward afu (3) causing a huge error for rams and NSW re gathered and few phases later James wayland(1) going under the posts. As both foward packs began to tire it was left up the the NSW backline to do some of the work with bailey(13) and armstong (23) and hopoate (12) just carving up and scoring tries to a mistake by rams and nick brown (4) picking it up offloading to alex crotti (2) then a draw and past to margin then running 25 m when his boot fell off to then run anothr 25m to score under the post. Huge celebratin there.

In my eyes this NSW team has to be one of the biggest and best sides in a while SJRU might be in for a shock tomorrow
