I believe the U15's and U17's played last weekend at Ballymore. Does anyone have a report or know the score?

U.15's - NSW 3 tries to Qld 2 ( one in the last minute or so) - Qld led 7 - 3 at half time. Match was not much of a spectacle ( in my personal opinion) due to excessive scrums / resets. Not much structured play at all really. NSW outside backs hardly saw the ball. NSW forwards led well by Captin & No 7 Pennisi ( from Far North Coast), but all of the NSW forwards performed well to wrestle back the lead in the second half and maintain it to the end.

U17's got hammered by a much superior Qld outfit - with the Qld Cetres & No 8 causing havoc across the park. ( Sorry, don't have their names). NSW never stopped trying though, and were well served by No 9 Wessells.

Obviously some degree of imbalance with ( I believe) the QLD team having their Australian Schoolboy players available, but not so for NSW .

Weather may also have played a part - Ballymore was quite damp, and rained on & off through both matches ( light drizzly stuff which probably made everything a little greasy).

Looks like you are searching for excuses Ageing ?? Don't think too many Oz schoolboys played. Just give it up to the power of the Queenslanders !

A check of the program shows 3 Aust A players were involved for QLD - Andrew Ready (hooker), Elija Paluape (as THP and not the LHP he played for Aust A) and Joseph Swann. Jack Bridges was selected as captain of QLD but broke his hand in the rout of ACT U17 on the Friday - 57- 3

No excuses - QLD far too good on the day ! One may question however, the potential disparity when (possibly due to school holidays, commencemnet of summer sports, or schools unwilling to realease certain players etc,) that the NSW team was not able to include (potentially, at least) some, or any, of the NSW based senior schoolboy representatives ?
This was ceratinly a point of discussion, I believe, at the airport on the way back to Sydney.
For the betterment of Rugby as a whole, both States should be putting their very best teams on the park to do battle.

The NSW Juniors is selected from the annual City v Country game. Both of these teams are selected from club players and not schools. As most of the GPS, CSA and ISA schoolboys in the u17 age group are not permitted to play club rugby if they are in the first or second xv they are not eligible for selection as they are not registered to a club. The exception to this is of course CHS who do not play school footy on a Saturday or Sunday. This NSW team is seen as the culmination of the clubs pathway and a way for those players outside the elite schools to get themselves noticed.

One further point two years ago NSW defeated Qld in the U15's fairly comfortably. Players in this side included Zac Attalah (Kings 2XV), Adam Vilmaa (Kings 2XV), Rhys Dombkins(Aust A), Matt Lee (Trinity 1XV)m Cam Clarke (Knox 1XV), Jesse Harris(Knox 1XV), Matt Hayter(CSA), Chris Ingate (Aust A). The Qld 17 side on the day included two players from Brisbane. Obviously Qld have decided to take this game more seriously
