So it turns out that people have been keeping track quite well of SDN (better than CAS). I see that seems to be a discrepancy or two against what aka has which is probably the result of having a to put a tab together based on what people remember about how things went in past rounds. Also there is one result from Senior B missing. Do you have this, aka_the_think?

Senior A
R1
Abbotsleigh d. Monte
Redlands d. Roseville
Riverview d. Wenona
Stella FF (Folau Fainga'a). to Pius

R2
Abbotsleigh d. Pius
Stella FF (Folau Fainga'a) to Redlands
Riverview d. Roseville
Monte d. Wenona

R3
Redlands d. Abbotsleigh
Pius d. Monte
Roseville d. Wenona
Stella FF (Folau Fainga'a). to Riverview

R4
Monte d. Redlands
Abbotsleigh d. Riverview
Stella FF (Folau Fainga'a). to Roseville
Pius d. Wenona

Snr A Tally (R4)
6 Points
Abbotsleigh
Pius
Riverview
Redlands
4 Points

Roseville
0 Points
Stella Maris

Senior B
Monte d. Abbotsleigh
Roseville d. Redlands
Riverview d. Wenona
Stella FF (Folau Fainga'a). to Pius

R2
Abbotsleigh d. Pius
Stella/Redlands
Roseville d. Riverview
Wenona d. Monte

R3
Abbotsleigh d. Redland
Monte d. Pius
Wenona d. Roseville
Riverview d. Stella

R4
Monte d. Redlands
Abbotsleigh d. Riverview
Roseville d. Stella Maris
Wenona d. Pius

Snr B Tally (R4)
6 Points
Abbotsleigh
Monte
Wenona
Roseville
4 Points
Riverview
2 Points
Pius
0/2
Redlands
Stella Maris

Edit: I put some schools in wrong when copying the results across from my phone. It should be correct now. If not please tell me.
edit 2: corrected Tally. Roseville on 4 not 6 points

Speaking of results this is what i have for rounds 1-4 of CAS
R1
Knox v Cranbrook (postponed)
Aloys def Waverly
Barker def Trinity
R2
Trinity def Waverley
Barker def Knox
Aloys def Cranbrook
R3
Knox def Waverley
Barker v Cranbrook?
Aloys def Trinity

R4
Cranbrook def Waverley
Barker def St Aloysius
Trinity v Knox?
I imagine others here might have those missing results.

SDN Snr A tally can't be right. Total of 17 wins in the tally when there's only been 16 debates after four rounds. Also round 5 results Riverview Snr A and B both beat Monte.

Good Spot. Roseville should only have 4 points having lost round 1 and 2. I just copied this as I got it so if you see anything else, let me know. Likewise if you have any other missing results.
I'll put round 5 into a new post if/when I can get them.

For those that don't know:

i) North Sydney Boys won CHS. Don't think this was reported on the forum. They knocked off Sydney Boys in the final. IDK when this was.

ii) Barker won CAS I'm pretty sure.

iii) Sydney Boys won Eastside. Again not sure if reported on the forum but yea, they did.

iv) OLMC B won CSDA year 12 comp, McAuley A won CSDA year 11 comp.

A mate can confirm CAS was won by Barker.

Can anyone enlighten me as to the reps process? Are there any levels or selections from the CHS/CAS/GPS/Archdale debates, or is it the 'endgame' so to speak?

Presumably they are interesting topics and high quality debates as well? I would also assume that GPS and Archdale would be the stronger teams.

The 2014 CAS representative teams included a few speakers from year 11, now in year 12 2015, who potentially be selected again, perhaps with higher representation from Barker than in 2014 based on its win in CAS 2015:
Year 11 CAS reps 2014
Liam Thorne (Aloys, CAS 1sts)
Alex Connolly (Trinity, CAS 2nds 4th speaker)
Hal Crichton-Standish (Cranbrook, CAS 2nds/ 3rds)
Viran Weeresekera (Barker, CAS 3rds)
Xavier Gould ( Aloys CAS 3rds, 4th speaker)
The Aloys team were CAS champs in 2014 and included all of their speakers from year 11s and 12s 1sts across CAS 1sts, 2nds and 3rds rep teams. Apart from the speakers above in year 11 in 2014 the remainder of the reps teams were filed by current year 12 speakers in 2014.
Scots were reigning GPS champions in 2015 but have not fared as well? in the GPS season but should still have some speakers perhaps in the GPS 1sts, 2nds and 3rds? Grammar and Riverivew are likely also to be represented. Other speakers from other teams?
Archdale will undoubtedly include Imogen Harper and CHS Eden Blair . any other predictions?

Based on State Squads the teams would be:

Andreas Orsmond 11 Grammar- GPS
Daniel Evans 12 Newington- GPS
Sam Wolfe 12 Grammar- GPS
James Manton-Hall 11 Grammar- GPS

Eden Blair 11 Sydney Girls- CHS
Tandee Wang 11 Sydney Tech- CHS
Thomas Shortridge 11 Sydney Boys- CHS/GPS

Eleanor Hall 12 Loretto- Archdale
Georgia Chahoud 11 Abbotsleigh- Archdale
Imogen Harper 12 SCEGGS- Archdale
Sarah Kelland 12 Abbottsleigh- Archdale

Liam Thorne 12 Aloysius- CAS
Viran Weeresakera 12 Barker (not in State, but presumed, personally think he's a very average debater)
Alex Connoly/Seamus Dove/?
?

Though of course expecting variance given the fallibility of state squads.

Selectors will base their decision on observation of speakers in what they have seen and adjudicated in the ISDA and Archdalel/GPS/ CAS/ CHS competitions; not on 'reputation' of being in any "state" squad.
Re CAS -see note above in which 5 year 11s from last year were in CAS teams, now in year 12; likely these 5 will see inclusion among the 12 selected across the 3 teams from the 6 schools.
Similarly GPS ( 8 schools) , Archdale ( 21 schools) and CHS ( no?) will see a number of individual contenders across the full range of schools

@debabe, maybe it's fun watching people wildly speculate :p
Besides, anyone can get a list off someone who trialed/is in reps, real question is if you know what the specific teams are?

So got given this surprisingly quickly:

SDN Round 5:
Snr A:
Abbotsleigh d. Roseville
Redlands d. Pius
Riverview d. Monte
Stella Maris FF (Folau Fainga'a). to Wenona

Snr B
Abbotsleigh d. Roseville
Pius d. Redlands
Riverview d. Monte
Wenona d. Stella Maris

Other things mentioned were that this means 3 schools tied on =1st in Senior A and so if they don't lose round 6, then round 7 will likely be a decider for Riverview and Redlands, and Abbotsleigh the pick to be the other team in the grand final.

As far as I know, Reps is endgame. Because state selection is a separate process and national team is selected from national schools comp

I love the fact that SDN, a small competition of 8 schools, has become the focus of the forum. Not wanting to detract from that, here's a comprehensive tally/standings thus far. N.B. I am only posting this for convenience of debaters and staff involved. I know a lot of people involved like to know how opposition's tracking, it can definitely inform strategy and such. In the absence of a proper SDN website a la ISDA, GPS, CSDA, Archdale (etc.) this might provide guidance as the comp. nears the finals.

Senior A:

=1. Abbotsleigh - 8 pts.
=1. Redlands - 8 pts.
=1. Riverview - 8 pts.

1. Riverview - 10 pts.
2. Abbotsleigh - 8 pts.
=3. Redlands - 6 pts.
=3. Roseville - 6 pts.

6. Pius - 2 pts.
7. Monte - 1 pt.
8. Stella Maris.

Year 8

=1. Redlands - 8 pts.
=1. Riverview - 8 pts.
=3. Abbotsleigh - 6 pts.

=6. Wenona - 2 pts.

Primary A

1. Stella Maris - 10 pts.
2. Abbotsleigh - 8 pts.
3. Redlands - 6 pts.
=4. Monte - 4 pts.
=4. Roseville - 4 pts.
=4. Riverview - 4 pts.

Does anyone have a copy of the draw to come? I've got semi finals pencilled in for the 4th of September, so perhaps top 4 go through?

Hi all,

I'll be uploading the latest tallies for SDN onto the website (sdndebating.com.au) on Wednesday this week. For those who are interested, only the top two schools from each division play off in a final for the SDN competition, and tiebreakers are only used to separate teams that are on equal points at the end of the regular season.

Have a good one!

2015 CAS Debating squads & draw
1st III
Seamus Dove ( B ), Liam Thorne ( A ), Viran Weerasekara ( B ) res – Xavier Gould ( A )
2nd III
Alex Connolly ( T ), Hal Crichton Standish ( C ), Dan Schofield ( K ) res – Ricardo Paras ( W )
3rd III
Oliver Cummins ( B ), Evan Lee ( B ), James Elhindi ( A ), res – Brandon Kreymborg (K)

A number of these in 1sts and 2nds were in CAS in 2014 when in year 11. No surprises that Barker as first and Aloys as second in CAS comp are well represented in 1sts and 3rds. Reserve at 1st was reserve at third in 2014. Individual strong speakers in seconds. Reserve in seconds perhaps a surprise inclusion. 3rds Barker (2) and Aloys (1)

I bet $50 000 that Ontheside is Hal Crichton-Standish.
