I started out on usenet (rec.sport.rugby.union) in '96/97, then PR in '98/'99, then Silverfern, later on Sportal but only cause they were there before G&GR.

And lately I only posted on PR when I was massively drunk, ie: even more shitfaced than I am now, which is pretty shitfaced.

In all fairness, no you didn't and some of your aliases were hilarious.

BB,

I reckon I joined PR in 02 or 03 (just before it changed to the current style?), so you have it on me. You really gave it your best, didn't you? You do realise you won't get that time back?!

I was a 2 or 3 post a day man at PR for many years, until I became housebound this year with Ross River Fever. In that 6 months I posted there about 3,000 times. It's addictive. Like having a pub next door.

Can someone summarise what its alleged to have happened? Read through 5/26 pages in that thread and still didn't find it

Same Gaggs. I got through some of it and gave up.
Looks like someone cried about something someone said/did and then the whole thing was taken down and they aren't happy about it.

Jeez. Sounds like a real shitfight. Bit like the sportal nonsense before I arrived here.

Like Naza I started out on usenet rec sport rugby union back in '95-97, and then the kids arrived and the rest is history. All my spare time went down the gurgler. Never really tempted to get too involved again until recently. Not sure if usenet is still going, but I guess it has done its dash now, so wasn't tempted back there. Stumbled upon sportal and for a while it was servicing my needs, but recently I ran out of mates and decent discussion dried up on sportal - somehow I survived the inquisition, but did not want to stay marooned in the desert so stumbled upon Gaggerland and here I am, and here I stay.

Occasionally I am tempted to browse TSF and some of the other sites out there, but as Shinead O'conner said "Nothing compares to you"

I started off on PR only a while ago, mainly because I have only recently had access to broadband, yes people places still exist in Oz that don't have BB.

PR went downhill pretty fast in the last six months with a noteable few constantly trolling, abusing and belittling others. A few more preaching anti - ******** (add what ever ethnic/religious/sexual orientation you would like) along with a proliferation of soft porn some of which was pretty suspect along the kiddie lines. The good stuff on PR got lost amoungst all the crap and the good posts were inevitably hijacked or abused into obscurity.

There is a lesson there IMO.

Scotty, ive had some bloody good times on there and hardly have a Jrpy type post count which is over 57K since the last board wipe about 3.5 years ago.

One thing that PR really need to do is exactly as the same format as here, a Rugby section then an "Everything Else" area. Everything about this board is impressive. Does somebody own this board and run it or is it more of a community owned thing where people donate towards the web hosting and forum software?

There was a claim that one person had gone running to the 365 people who own PR and claimed that he was being bullied, which resulted in the bored being pulled down. That is not true, rather it was just Enzedder (who many here will know) taking the piss.

What the official word is that the owners had discovered a security issue and decided to pull all of the forums while it was sorted out.

I quite like PR, but it isnt a rugby forum. Its a chat between people who happen to follow rugby.
This is a rugby forum, hence I also come here to actually find out what is happening in the rugby world.

Sorry to hear that Groucho. I had it and it knocks the shit out of you and I have not been the same since. I hope it all works out for you mate.

So the entire forum is gone because one or two mincing queens had a whinge ? Wow, the Saffers always were softcocks but that takes the cake.
Vok jou Boet, I am waiting for Nick Nazaret on PR.:lmao:

I really enjoy PR lately, CP is also a good place. At least PR give you freedom of speech, which I need sometimes in yards.

Noddy the lot dont like your attetude Boet, dont tell me you'v cjange into a snob these days. :fishing

I mean the Saffers running Planet Rugby. One person threatens to sue, and they crumble. Certainly not a shot at you old boet.

Anyway the forum is up again, the banter is back, they can get back to their 20 page Israel threads.

Count me also as an old Usenet guy. Rec.sport.rugby.union and rec.sport.cricket were frequent hang outs for me in the early to mid 90's.

It will probably get pulled one day like the IRB forum, its seems that some on there are determined to push the envelope.
Been getting in more and more shitfights the longer I stay there and not enough good rugby threads on there.
I wouldnt join that offshoot site if it did die.

Just a heads up G&GRers - PR is closing down for a day soon.

Any chance of some refuge here? The alternatives are all too scary.
