Surprisingly the Proteas dominate the first two ODIs and this without AB de Villiers or Amla.

The show move to the coast now. Surely the Aussie will strike back.

Really? We have just come from a tough series in the sub-continent and are missing some big players.

Still wondering how Maxwell didn't get selected.

9 off 5 and 18/2 off 2 today against WA.

25 off 17 and 16/0 off 3 against SA on Wednesday.

Fairly crap summer in all but the first class before that too.

Bowling is the real issue. Maxwell wouldn't have fixed that. Between Starc, Pattinson, Hazelwood, Coulter Nile and Cummins out injured, Johnson retired and a couple of others not necessarily suited for the format, the pace stocks are low.

Behrendoff should still have been given a go though IMO. At the very least he's a left arm option.

Proteas selected their B team and still roll over the Aussies. In comes that man Shamsi (3/36)and Kyle Abbott (4/40) and restrict Aus for 167 in 36 overs. Not hard work for the Proteas. One ODI away from a white wash.

Test cricket to follow in Australia which will be a total different animal.

Look out for a few new Proteas on the block.

Faf du Plessis (Titans, captain), Kyle Abbott (Warriors), Hashim Amla (Cape Cobras), Temba Bavuma (Highveld Lions), Stephen Cook (Highveld Lions), Quinton de Kock (Titans), JP Duminy (Cape Cobras), Dean Elgar (Titans), Keshav Maharaj (Dolphins), Morne Morkel (Titans), Vernon Philander (Cape Cobras), Kagiso Rabada (Highveld Lions), Rilee Rossouw (Knights), Tabraiz Shamsi (Titans), Dale Steyn (Cape Cobras), Dane Vilas (Cape Cobras)

Sure will. Australian pitches, Starc and Hazlewood back to terrorise Saffer batsmen, no Graeme Smith to lead SAf. A massive challenge for the Proteas.

Well Australia is nr 1 ranked. Myself will take test match cricket any day before the other formats. I think they bring the players through via T20, ODIs to test cricket.

Cricket is a heavy mental sport. Losing will happen, secret is to make the shift to winning again. Test match cricket have so many battles for long periods and I just love watching those battles.

Sad to see only 3 tests between two old rivals.

November 2016
3 Australia v South Africa Test Western Australia Cricket Association Ground, Perth 04:30
12 Australia v South Africa Test Bellerive Oval, Hobart 01:30
24 Australia v South Africa Test Adelaide Oval 05:30

David Warner fight hard last night but alone. Great knock by him but it wasn't enough to keep the Proteas from making history. Also a very good crowd at Newlands.

Bring on the tests.

Anybody still taking in the second test?

Is there some disharmony in the team. Could explain a lot if so.

Time to eject the non-performers and go for some younger players with potential out of the SS. Smith the only player with a bit of backbone as far as I can see.

Sayers, Cartwright, Lehmann, Renshaw, Patterson, Weatherald, Agar, Somerville, Behrendorff.

Just to throw a few names in.

Where is James Pattinson? Is he injured again? Haven't seen any mention, but he was really finding form again v NZ last summer.

Chris Lynn would be an option I'd consider.
