Can the Tahs bring their second half form back from Melbourne and be competitive against the undefeated Crusaders?

What's clear is that a slow start against the Crusaders will give them absolutely no chance.

I'm really just waffling here in order to start the thread...

Well BH, that is the question !

Will the Tahs bring that second half confidence from the initial kickoff. Big ask against the Saders - they are full of confidence

Saw him on TV talking to the Doc after the game. He didn't look to happy I thought his head maybe playing up again. Hopefully it sorts itself quick and he is back.

Fuck - I just hope he looks after himself or is under private specialist medical people.

Someone at the Tahs or the Tahs quacks cleared him to play last weekend.

It APPEARS he should not have played at all if reports are correct.

The blokes health and long term effects should be the concern of EVERYBODY

He was cleared to play under the RTTP (return to play protocol) weeks ago.

He has been withdrawn in each of the following weeks because he has reported suffering symptoms at some point during the week following strenuous exercise. This has included a couple of times where he made it almost the entire way through the week before having some symptoms and then declaring those and being withdrawn.

Last week he suffered no symptoms and thus was picked to play.

Following the game he has reported some symptoms so is now in doubt again.

I don't know what more can be done in terms of his welfare short of retiring after having lingering symptoms for a few weeks after a concussion.

Clearly you can't exactly replicate game conditions in terms of stress and fatigue etc. in training although you can go close. What more can be done apart from pushing as hard as possible at training and seeing if there are any symptoms following that?

Of course Foley's long term welfare are in everyone's interests particularly his own, but it does seem that both he and the Waratahs have exercised the utmost caution possible in his return to rugby and are doing so again now following the return of symptoms after the game.

They can only act on the information available as all the objective testing (including having a scan on his return from South Africa) have been well and truly passed. The information they have now is all subjective and relies on Foley saying how he feels but there is no indication he hasn't been truthful with that.

Listened to a presentation from the ARU's Chief Medical Officer Warren MacDonald on concussion and the Blue card. The amount they don't know is a bit scary. MRIs and CTs don't show much, there are different scans that show changes to the way the brain works but that is it. The most surprising for me was the fact that there doesn't need to be contact with head to cause concussion, the impact tackle on hips and chest that snaps the head back "whiplash style" causes it too. May be why there stuff coming out about increased neck strength lower concussion cases.

Foley out, that makes this really tough (as if it wasn't already).
Please not Hegarty, you know what they say about continuing to do the same thing and expecting a different result!
Possibly Horwitz, with Simone back in the centres, or one of the youngsters like Mason or Deegan.

It's amazing how abruptly our chances disappear with the loss of one specific player.

Whilst I'm certainly not expecting it, I wonder if there is any chance Foley will play this week if he gets through each session without any symptoms.

Another interesting fact about brain injuries is that they are starting to discover a correlation between repeated mild bumps, such as heading a ball in Soccer, and long-term brain injuries.

You don't even need to get full-blown concussions to suffer serious brain injuries :(

Woah! Let's hope Foley is passed fit.

Not a terrible idea to give Mason a crack given Hegarty has been disappointing. I would have thought Deegan would get a run first though.

Deegan seems to struggle when pressured. He seems to lose it a bit when the game is on the line. I saw that in the NRC Grand final. When one thing goes wrong for him or he makes a mistake then it snowballs for him. I hope if Mason plays he is well protected and does well.
