Rugby in Australia's last great hope for relevance
The Wallabies have applied to World Rugby to wear the indigenous jersey in the pool match with Uruguay and the semi-final if we make it.
Here in NZ if you wanna watch all 48 matches live & ad-free you've gotta stream it thru a telco called Spark's app. Not looking good atm:
They've promised to get games on FTA within minutes if the stream falls over but I'm far from confident they'll deliver.
Better to fail now, when there's time to fix things, rather than at the RWC when there's no time.
^ well yeah & Bahrain GP was possibly beyond their control but has been pointed out, it's a big step up from women's hockey to RWC intending viewer-wise.
Hockey was on FoxSports over here. Watched the mens game - great game won 2-1 by Australia.
Hope they can sort it out for you guys before RWC.
According to Spark someone in the US forgot to flick the switch but it's all good, come RWC it'll be automated;
Just gotta hope someone in the US remembers to program the streaming thingo, I s'pose Srsly tho, imagine the damage to Spark's already tarnished image (voted Worst Corporate in NZ more than once) if they can't get NZ v SA up on time & glitch-free.
Second game of the tourament, so they'll need to get it right pretty quickly.
Why do we have to apply to WR for permission and why don't we just wear it all the time because it's way betterer?
If they make it the RWC jersey then why should it matter? I agree with you though, it's a much nicer jersey than the normal one.
wasn't Skeen the one who would consistently overrule the Ref?
That's the one. He's the exact opposite of whoever was TMO in the Brumbies-Blues match. Constantly wanting to show the ref footage of everything from a player retying their boots through to his nieces clarinet recital.
It seems wild that France has been judged to have 1/3 of the world's best referees.
^ three of them to do the Final with Kitt or Hughes as TMO
Guys, do you know Russian-Australian rugby players? In the past decade there have been two famous Russian Australians. Adam Byrnes played for Russia on RWC2011. Greg Jeloudev played for Australia in the World Series. I know two young brothers Chipizubov in Sydney. Dimitry Chipizubov (21 years old) plays for Randwick (1 and 2 Grade). Roman Chipizubov (18 years old) for Paramatta (Colts). Maybe you know other Russian Australians who play rugby? In Australia, 75,000 people have Russian roots. Among them should be a lot of rugby players. Interested in any age.
Dimitry is on an Australian men's rugby sevens development contract.
Yes, but he has not played for the main team yet. Therefore, theoretically, he can still play for Russia.
Must get our scrum in order and the breakdown will be a dogs breakfast. Wallabies must have a plan B after plan A (quick breakdown ball) fails.
Massive blow for Ireland as SO'B ruled out with a hip injury:
