Never is a long time... For example - growing up in Sydney in the 70s I never had the need or occasion to to watch an AFL match - it was just 'weirdness from Victoria'... Now it is a major Sport in New South Wales and Queensland... The NRL depends entirely on the Media - and without that, there is little to sustain it... come back in 30 years, and I would expect Union to be in a stronger position in both states.... The Rugby World Cup will only get bigger, and Australians will need to adjust to a far more fluid interchange between Union and the Mungo Code - but Union will have the Internationals, the World Cup and the Olympics to provide incentives...
