Summer holiday around the corner for us lucky SH lot and surely one we all enjoy. In SA our lot head down to the beach and the Binneland (Inland) , or terrorist like we living on the coast calls them, invade all coastal towns and time to relax with the family, put some suntan lotion on and enjoy the surf , playing lekka beach cricket or just beach touchies. Myself always go to the most southern point in SA, Struisbaai and 10 minute walk to the beach, time to make food on the fire (already ordered 500 pieces of RooiKrantz wood) like potjie or braai and relax with a cold one.

Our lot have a beach touchie tournament going all around the beaches of the southern cape and look like quite a popular one. Here is some photos of past events and they will visit Struisbaai just before Chrismast day and one I wont miss for anything. Where will you go and do this summer and festival season?

Well Paarl, I don't have much annual leave to spend this year (and Mrs TA has none, just having come back from maternity leave) but we're going to try a weekend trip to the coast either north or south of Sydney.

Because neither of our kids are in school yet we can go out-of-season which means paying less and having more space to enjoy it :) Its hard with a little one but at least the boy is old enough to enjoy the beach now.

Christmas lunch will be at my brother-in-law's house ::) but we have friends coming over who are stuck in town (9 months pregnant so no travel) and my Dad will be here too.

I'm on-call over Christmas, so the wife and kid will be up at the in-laws farm, while I mope around Sydney (you know, playing golf, riding my bike, trying to ignore the phone when work calls!). Then we've got a week up the north coast, and a week up the central coast, so looking forward to that, and watching plenty of the cricket. Should be a cracker series Paarl. Enjoy all.

I am not confident at all about our lot. Our secret will be in our quickie duo Steyn & Morkel. If you deal with them you'll be OK. We need some Bakkies mongrel in that Protea team to come close to your lot. But I'll watch make no mistake.

They have just invented Summer Session at my uni. So I am teaching a course. But the family are heading south for a week, so that will give me a chance to catch up on porn and drinking alone, which are two of my hobbies.

Off for a week or R & R in hospital chaps to have an artery transplant in my groin replaced.

I'm not sure whether I want to hear the details or not. Other people's pain is always funny, though.

Slight change in the state of the mountains since I was last there, I'll tell you!

Maybe you visit there in winter? Much more slippery and actually the name derives from the rock where I walked. The water permenantly comes out of the rocks in winter and it look like a Pearl, in kitchen Dutch "Paarl" or in afrikaans "perel". Yesterday when we arrived there two mad souties guys climbing the steep one by rope. Took some photos and they were pretty fast back on the ground wanting us to PM them the photos. Long hair mad fuckers I thought. Will never do that for all the money, way to scared.

Ag, Oom, I was talking about September! The lack of snow on the mountains above the tunnel is a bit noticeable by comparison, sort of thing!

Oh sorry that one. Ja the snow usually fall at that side in winter. This is the opposite side of Paarl and gives you a nice view to Slaapstad and Tale Mountain and down the valley to Wellington & Malmesbury.
