I never thought of Valetini as a highlights clip sorta player. Thats more Samu moonlighting as a winger.

I’d caution some of my fellow Reds fans from going the early crow here. Yep we won and won well, and that’s worth celebrating. But the Brumbies are a good team filled with excellent players. I really rate Valetini, White, Miller etc, and don’t think they deserve the flak they’re getting here. They will be chomping at the bit after having an extra weeks rest and prep before the final. We got the better of them this time, but if we make the final (fingers crossed we beat the Rebels) they are more than capable of dusting us in Canberra.

That gives even more credibility to the Reds if they play the Brumbies in the Final. The fact the Reds lost in Canberra by a penalty after the hooter.

The biggest hurdle for the Brumbies is the Reds defence. The Brumbies have achieved tries against the other sides in the post corvid Super Rugby AU competition where they have failed to get the rewards against the Reds, which must prove very frustrating.

Gotta get past the slippery Rebels first lads! One week at a time and all that.

Yep absolutely. I think my point is that although we are playing well, we’re not the incomparable rugby gods that some are making out. Rebels and Brumbies can def knock us off.

I’d reckon McKellar would be pretty happy with how Samu goes in the wide channel.

Just watched the replay and thought that the brumbies were very scrappy in the first half especially.

The backline seemed to be playing far too deep and then forcing passes when the reds D rushed up.

I have no doubt that the game day travel would effect most teams and definitely affected the brums, i also suspect that the warmer weather did not help them (at least that is the only excuse i can think of for all of the dropped ball)

TK had a bit of a shocker
    Kuenzle seemed far too deep
Simone was either getting horrid passes or also had a bit of a shocker
Sio's scrumaging has definitely been off but I dont envy anyone going up against Thor.

I also think there were a few shockers by Berry. They didn't determine the outcome but that penalty against Wright for the push on the reds winger (CFS?) was a shocker. The timing was actually spot on so there was no penalty to start with (unless pushing a player with the ball is now a penalty) AND then the reds player gets up and slaps him across the back of the head. Should have been an instant reversal which would have given the brumbies a penalty about 15 out!

On a good note though, how bloody good was that chase down from Frost on Sorovi!!!
Also i thought Ikitau looked great. He has really bulked up in the last year too.

What ever the reason is, T. Wright biting in gave the Reds their first two tries. If he stays on his man there's no space.

Sorry - I’m not meaning to be disrespectful. Absolutely agree on your central point. Brumbies will be much tougher at home and I am not for a second taking for granted that the Reds will be the ones to play them.

One of the reasons last night was such a good result is that the Brumbies are a very good, well coached team.

I don’t mean to be overly critical of Valetini either. He is a young bloke early in his career and he clearly does bring physical presence to the field. I just can’t quite get the hype - but good luck to him.

Agree, i think Valetini is a good super rugby player and certainly has a presence on the field, i just don't understand the comments of him scoring a points victory over Wright in this match.

Reds still need to beat the Rebels next weekend first before worrying about any possible grand final, Rebels on their day have proven capable of beating any team in Super Rugby AU.

Running over the stats I was surprised at just how many missed tackles the Reds had in the tight 5. There is clearly a system here with back up.

I'm not sure what is going on but it sure as hell is working.

Is it just me or did anyone else think it was weird having Rio Tinto advertising In the in goals while both teams were wearing their indigenous jerseys?

Rio Tinto are big supporters of the Reds Indigenous Program.

I appreciate their sponsorship. Also all genuine efforts in indigenous programmes.

They should however feel the heat over recent issues. I saw an interview with Kevin Rudd, a man I can find little to agree with. He dubbed them Rio TNT. It is hard to argue.
