Super Rugby beats the A-League again. Pulver statement of at least the $40 million seems more than achievable.

The interesting thing is that the Friday A-league figures have a pretty even split between SBS and Fox and the rest of the games are somewhat comparable to the S15. This should mean that it will be viable to also have a FTA rugby game on each week without destroying the ratings.

It does provide a good case for a split. Certainly strong enough for Pulver to negotiate at the very least a similar deal to that of the A-League. I actually think given the right channel, Super Rugby could return greater ratings than the A-League on SBS.

The ratings are there. The thing to be aware of, though, is the number of games.

I could be wrong, but I suspect that the demographics of the viewership would favour us. Meaning, our games would attract more upmarket advertisers, and perhaps higher rates.

I suspect so.

Still, volume of program on-air also counts.

Yep. The Shute should go with the IPTV option this year. That's a toe-hold on the future.

A-League has 150 games in the 'Australian/New Zealand', Super Rugby has 89....

The addition of the NRC(1game/week & finals) takes that figure up to 100 games broadcast, or if all NRC games are broadcast it would grow to 127.

Well, that's another reason why the NRC is vital to the future of the game. Interesting;y, Angry Seahorse posted a link regarding the NHRU and a lunch Bill Pulver attended up there regarding the possibilities of the NRC expanding. It appears that they have ambitions to grow it to at least 12 teams in the near future.

So what sort of ratings does everything think is realistic and attainable in the first season of the NRC...

50'000/game benchmark?

Talking about the Soup ratings, it would be interesting to do code-wide comparisons. Put the NZ and SA audiences into the mix, and see what the ratings look against the Loig and the AFL.
