I am looking at setting up two screens on a computer and I have worked out I need to get a new graphics card. However I have no idea what a graphics card is, let alone what I would need to buy to actually get it up and running. At the moment I am just going to walk into the next Dick Smiths or equivalent that I see and ask them but I fear they will try and sell me something I really dont need. I'm not going to be watching movies or anything fancy like that (not even porn to do a bit of Lee Granting), I just want to be able to use and look at two programs at once.

I'd go find your local non-franchised computer shop and ask them. Take in your PC and show them what you have, and explain what you need. Ask them for a range of pricing options with the hardware details and layman's explanations for what your dollar is getting. And negotiate - if there is another shop up the road, take the list of hardware details there and see who will talk turkey.

I just did it last week and it's a gem. Sure makes study, referencing and writing much simpler.
Any hoos, if you are near the Gold Coast PM me and I will give you the number of my main man.

Get this card: GeForce 9600 GT. Should cost you less than 100 AUD which is a bargain for what it offers. These days you need a decent graphics card as Operating System GUIs are getting hungry.

Can anyone help me with some advice regarding backups. I have all my data etc on a portable hard drive and would like to back it up/copy it to another portable hard drive incase the original drive has issues. I seem to remember when I was younger and more clever I used robocopy for this and it did it fairly efficiently as it could be set to only update the changes on the source disc.
Does anyone know of any smarter way of doing this. Thanks

Are there any idiot proof instructions on how to post photos in a reply on the forum? I am struggling

OK so I've installed the above-ground spa wifey bought & built a pretty schmick shed around it (complete with removable front wall should it ever need to be removed).

Now wifey wants a flat-screen tv in there but I'm concerned about steam/ condensation/ potential electrocution issues & no-one from any of the TV retailers will give me an answer one way or t'other.

So to all you tech geniuses out there, if I stick a flat-screen tv in said spa room, what's its life expectancy? Oh & mine/ wifey's?

Those were my thoughts, too, I'm thinking of putting in a $100 cheap & nasty one as far from the actual spa as possible & running the cord back into the conservatory the shed's attached to. If that survives I'll then look at something a bit flasher: the downstairs 42" does need replacing, it being ~10 years old, so it may get pressed into service :)
