TRC Round 2 : All Blacks vs Springbokke @ Cake Tin

Derpus

George Gregan (70)
Defensive tactics shouldn't be a thing. Go up fast in a straight line, then slide.
They are pushing up and in to close off the play and its working quite well.

They got caught short on numbers for the try because it came directly from a turnover. Turnovers are about the only way to score tries these days.

Certainly haven’t seen any measures to counter the rush defence from NZ. If anything they’ve looked more susceptible.

Have to back NZ from here. SA very dominant between halfway and the 22m line but haven’t really looked like threatening the AB line.

The AR really can do a better job with balls that are knocked on at the side of the ruck the ref isn’t on.

Edit the second: the haters won't see it but fuck me that was a sweet ball from SBW to Beaugan to set up that try. Needs to do it more than once every three seasons, obviously, but that's why Shag & Co persist with him long after most have decided it's time to move on.

On the other hand, ALB has kick-started the midfield attack into life, and Goodhue is getting opportunities to make inroads now Williams has departed.

As it is, I'd have ALB/Goodhue as the starting midfield. Harsh on Crotty perhaps, but Goodhue has tenure and ALB is playing far too well to overlook. Would be a potential bench option.

Pretty clear that ball came lose and propelled forward so for referee, assistant referees all to miss it not good. Instead nz get 3 points, lead of 7 points and critical momentum push in final 10

Was about to say, comms mentioned Coles making a difference when he came on but ALB has provided the variation in attack. Easy to rush up on the outside when you know someone like SBW is probably just going to take it into contact.
