Scott was the QAS Reds Academy Player of the Year in 2007. His athletic build and natural skill base makes him the perfect link man around the field. Made his debut off the bench against the Bulls in 2008, where he announced his arrival with a thumping tackle on flying wing Bryan Habana seconds after coming onto the field.

Some eye-catching displays in 2009 had some judges marking his card as a "Wallaby in waiting". In 2010 as he took his game to another level, especially in attack where his strong ball running was rewarded with four tries. He also made a giant leap in defence and soon became a go to man for the Reds when they needed a spark

Higginbotham’s speed and athleticism for a big man proved a useful weapon for the Australian Sevens side, who he represented during the 2007-08 IRB World Sevens Series .

His Wallaby aspirations were put on hold when, after playing every minute of every game in 2010, Scott suffered a high ankle sprain in the final game of the Super Rugby season, ruling him out of the opening few Tests. However the recognition finally came when he was called up to the Wallaby squad for the 2010 Tri-Nations campaign . Higgers made his Wallaby debut in the last test of the Wallabies tour of the UK and Europe in 2010, playing the last twenty minutes of the test from the bench. He was again named on the bench for the first test of the 2011 season as the Wallabies took on Samoa in Sydney.
