  • There was really no other choice. David Pocock was a standout.

  • Qualify

    Hahaha love that trophy!!

  • ripper

    Where’s the laminated certificate?

  • Xaviera

Four of the top five are back-rowers, followed by a couple of play-makers, which makes for a fair reflection of the Australian style. Not much presence from the tight five, which shouldn’t surprise anyone, although the black arts are usually missed by most when well executed. As to the winner – congrats to Poey – well deserved. Should also have been World Rugby’s International Player of the Year, but for Dan Carter bringing his A+ game to the RWC Final.

  • Hitcho

All in all that points table is spot on. Poey is a well deserved winner. Just can’t bring myself to say he’s better than George….. yet….

  • Marcus Pontmercy

    Welll done Pocok! #justiceforlaunchbury

  • SuckerForRed

Only one back in 7 years…… and he was only half back…

    Well done Poey.

  • Teh Other Dave

Good to see votes spread through nearly every position, and shows how far the team has improved as a unit in such a short space of time.

One gripe – the props! They were a revelation this year. They out-Englanded England. In England. Yet only TPN scored votes, none for anyone wearing 1 or 3. Better go back and check my votes in that match.

    • Braveheart81

If we’d beaten England 15-13 then the front row would have probably scored points. As it was we smashed them and Foley was instrumental to that.

I agree that our front row had a great year and Kepu in particular was consistently excellent.

  • Peeno

Considering Simmons importance to the line out and our success, one vote overall is pretty rough. The winner was clearly right though

  • Pfitzy

That camera is a bit steamed up, Steve. Feeling the bromance? :)

    • C’mon, it’s Poey.

      As if you wouldn’t.

      • oztimmay

        He’s only human after all.

        • Pfitzy

          Steve? Lenthall? Human? Canberra? ;)

    • SuckerForRed

I am still trying to work out if that is a smile or a grimace on Steve’s face…..

      • Pfitzy

He’s trying to conceal his arousal.

      • Parker

He’s thinking of his crushed hand

  • Poey was robbed in the World Rugby Player of the Year Award but it’s good to see him pick up the one that really matters.

  • Tim

Damn, that was close. Poey only just snuck home.

  • Bay35Pablo

Fair call. Poey had a massive year, and while Hooper is very good, you wondered how we did without him. Then we realised he was playing 8 and maybe we’d been missing an impact 8 for a while …..

    • Davey

      Only since Kef.

The original prop in a prop's body, but thankfully I have the rugby mind of a prop as well.
