G&GR Podslam 68 – Pinkeye

Matt Rowley June 21, 2012 8

No GravatarTimmsy, analytical genius coach Scott Allen and I look over the weekend’s games and Aussie rugby news.

With talent like this, who needs celebs? (Don’t answer that.)

Ahh – yep, I got confused with Pollock in the Aus game

Have to disagree with Scotty’s comment around the lack of moves from the Wobs. To me, it is just a change in focus, McCabe’s and Horne’s tries in the last two games have come from great work off the ball to create space with good lines that created the doubt in the defenders minds.

Gotta get Scott on more. Cracking podcast fellas

Question – Has not Kurtley & Quade brought the game into distribute whether or not he is / has been charged with anything? Reason enough for the ARU to chip him and stand him down for a period of time.

Hasn’t there been players in the past sent home / stood down when they have misbehaved? Dunning, Sailor & Tiquri immediately jump to mind.

Think you guys were a little harsh on Vuna. No way it was a Red – he monged hard but with no malicious/professional intent. He kooked and lost track of where the hell he was and then halfpenny landed on his neck. He only got hold of his leg in the last bit of the fall – it was not a tackle – but a straight yellow no doubt. Idiot.
But I agree with gags that while he hadn’t matched digby’s lofty standards – he had done ok and made a few good hitups in the middle – each time beating at least the first tackle. He aint no wendle sailor – but the wallabies haven’t gone through the hands to the wing yet so he’s a better bet than shipperly – just needs confidence.
Prob never see him in gold again though…

As for Timani – fuck it – why not. Robbies got Pyle and Neville there and obviously Timani has impressed him more. Deans knows what simmons can do and it is a dead rubber (i dont mean we can throw it away on weird choices – but one to sure up a future weak spot the future is a good plan).
Personally I think Sharpie should step aside with this series – We’ve got Timani, Simmons, Carter, Pyle, Neville, Jones, Fardy, Wykes and Douglas hanging around.
