Taffy out with DVT so Pek comes in a back-up hooker….FUCK!!!
anyone know where i can watch it live online??
http://www.justin.tv/eddy631
Please, PLEASE, can we start a fan ground swell to remove Robbie Deans and John O’Neill from our Wallabies!!!???
We have many of the best players in the world in the Wallabies – but since Deans took over we have the worst win/loss statistics in the Wallabies history.
I’ve been a Wallabies die-hard for 50 years – yes, listened to the matches on radio – Gens X & Y wouldn’t understand that!!
After hoping & praying for just one victory in the Bledisloe series, the Tokyo match just kyboshed that.
Heaven help us in the Northern Hemisphere matches, let alone the World Cup. We need an Aussie coach!! Please respond and let’s see how many fans agree.
why is it john o’neil fault?
John O’Neil has a lot to do with it. He only came back to Rugby because he wanted to finish unsettled scores. He left on ordinary terms last time and has delivered fuck all since his return. Where is our top tier comp, below the Super Rugby comp. There is none. He is a dead shit. Not so sure on the best players though, If you can’t win your own line outs and scrums at this level you don’t deserve to be mentioned as the best.
our top tier comp was canned because it lost millions in its fist year.
JON job is to look after the money side and help expand our game. If we get Melbourne he’s done that. his job unlike the players.
i never wanted deans to coach here,i knew the honeymoon period would be sweet but if he started to lose they knifes would come out for him deservedly, maybe his jedi mind games only work for jedis, not Aussies i hope you do well for the sake of our game here…
Name one better coaching alternative. Deans is our best hope for RWC 2011.We’re just going to have to ride it out and hope all comes good.
i was hoping they appointed Alan Jones.
The Wallabies shouldn’t need skills coaching, do you think Verbeek tells kewell how to kick a corner.
Verbeek is there for player management, strategies, tactics, selection and motivation.
I dont know what Deans is doing but its certainly not player management, strategies, tactics, selection and motivation.
I thought Robbie Deans was going to be the saviour of Wallaby rugby. The AB’s played at about 50% and cruised to a win. Their wives/partners could beat this Wallaby team. You have many of the best players in the world?? Yeah right!!
My English twin daughters are there. They mistakenly pressed the wrong button when buying the tickets and ended up paying nearly a 1,000 English pounds for the tickets. so I really hope they enjoyed it and well done to the All Blacks. Worth every penny.
Bad luck Matt. Are you sure Deans wasn’t paid to infiltrate the Wallabies set up? Could this all be a ploy for further AB dominance further down the line?
Whatever way – I thought it was a very close game. Am worried about you green and golds. By 2011 you’ll be peaking. Only good thing is, maybe we will be too.
Ferdy
Thanks Ferdy – very gracious, which tells me that you aren’t that worried about 2011!
aussies need aussie coach… a real battler.
1)change jerseys!
2)send deans home.
3)phil waugh.
4)giteau not performing at fly half… get rid of him.
this bullshit is making not wanting to support the wallabies anymore. truly have lost any of that remaining aura from the maqueen/eales/gregan/larkham/e.jones era.
now we are truly a shite team.
whats going on!!! robbie must go… unless there is a complete demolition of the northern hemisphere.
deans wishes he never took the job i bet,
Deans is doing the only thing he could do – promote a bunch of greenhorns and blood them in tests (given the lack of a doemstic comp in Oz).
Your senior players let you down last night and your scrum was very good.
Itwont happen overnight but it (might) happen.
Patience.
i agree good comment the lack of a proper domestic comp is a real concern over here, the shute shield recently ,scrums went uncontested in part!
which senior players let us down? Elsom? Horwill? Gitaue?
none of the wallabies are really senior.
Deans promoted the wrong people.
Everyone wants to get rid of Deans. Well who are you going to replace him with? And even if it was to happen what do you think that would do to the Wallabies? It would cause even more mindless disruption.
I’m very disappointed by last night’s result too, but I recognise one thing. The Wallabies played as well as their collective and individual talents allowed them to at this moment in time. It’s just that the ABs played individually and collectively better rugby.
It wasn’t Robbie Deans who gave away three dopey penalties in the second half which put the score out of reach.
Nor was it Robbie Deans who caused three important playmakers to be badly injured before the match had even started.
Get rid of the coach, sure. Look forward to absolute demolition in 2010 and in the RWC. Look forward to being a rugby minor nation for a long time to come.
I thought the Wallabies intensity at the all important breakdown improved by 100%. The scrum was excellent even when personnel in it changed. Yes there were a few lineout issues, but that didn’t lose the game for the Wallabies. The stats say that they had enough possession and territory to win the match.
What really lost the match for the Wallabies was the lack of a potent attack in the backline. And the problem there is the highest paid player in Australian rugby. He tried to play a “centers” game from flyhalf and failed dismally.
He needs to be pushed out to centre as a matter of extreme urgency and a big risk taken with Quade Cooper at five eighth. Giteau is not a play maker, from flyhalf – never has been and never will be. He’s deluded about his own capabilities.
Personally I think I’d make a better national coach than Deans.
QC would have been in 10 since he came on late in that perth test v south africa and got 2 try assist.
I think the all blacks are a fantastic team , and swallowing some pride, I am glad of this years try nations and bledisloe results. Whilst the nations newpapers often call for henrys head after a loss. I am relieved. Im sick of the Ab’s peaking throughout the year only to fold at crunch time WCR. Coming off a few losses however takes the all blacks down a few notchs and pushes their resolve to a whole new level, I think that is what we saw last night.
having said that the wallabies also improved dramatically Im not sure what game some of the men in gold fans were watching, but it was not this one. The wallabies intensity at the breakdown was better. the match was in the balance until the blow out of 3 penaltys in the last quarter. I really think its the finish that lets the wallabies down. when it counts they make those unforced errors. or wrong decisions. I think the wallabis are just as good as the all blacks except for that “last decision” at the make or break point of their phases, or at the attacking breaks, and if they get that right, the fans will be eating their words, and looking rather red.
so having had that rant I agree with your observations. I dont see what removing Robbie Deans will achieve. except more distruption and give the australian fans and players alike a mentality of “its the coach not us”
which is obsurd of course, and a huge risk nearing world cup fever. What happens if robbies deans is replaced and the new coach does just the same up to and during the world cup? just keep going through the coachs until the “right man” turns up?
I would be interested in seeing what some of the players have to say about robbie deans, for if they were truely unhappy with deans or the way they are progressing under his instruction we would see munity without a doubt.
So my imho I offer these words. dont give up stick it out with the Men in Gold.
Were only average mate.
I think theres clearly something going on behind-the-scenes between Giteau (your only genuine world class player) and Deans (and possibly Mortlock too).
Deans is not accustomed to not having the changing room.
Somethings gotta give I reckon.
i was very dissapointed with last nights performance, but i noticed a few important things. elsom was pretty quiet, i dont know if i missed his best moments in the game but his attitude was a bit cavalier for a test match. also palu was playing pretty well and was gaining momentum (although he dropped a lot of ball) but then deans subbed him off. i mean he was subbed for george smith, but still, theyre different players with different strengths and the size of palu seemed to be working.
if there was ever any evidence required that giteau needs to move to 12 it was last nights solo attacks. a couple of solo runs from flyhalf can be devastating, he has scored a few times from that position this year, but it seemed as though he was running it at very inopportune times. the loss of barnes is going to hurt.
And just listening to Giteau’s post match comments I’m more covinced than ever that he’s deluded.
No mention of his first kick being charged down, no mention of three crazy attempts to penetrate a solid wall of black jerseys when the ball should have been put on super fast mail to the outsides. All he could say was that Genia is giving him more space. Space for him to do what with?
Giteau might be an accomplished rugby player with rare talent, but there are two things which are insufferably wrong about him. The position he insists on playing in and his attitude.
I don’t think this is going to happen, but for England I would like to see Quade Cooper (a player I’ve never had a huge amount of confidence in) take over the No. 10 jersey and O’Connor (a natural 12 if ever I saw one) come in to inside centre and AAC going back to fullback. Giteau can warm the bench for an hour.
Yes it’s a huge risk, but we know what everyone else can bring to the table and their menu hasn’t produced results so far this year. Why not try something different for a change?
As I say it’s unlikely to happen so it will be more of the same old same old. Unless, of course, Giteau can somehow get some laser beam surgery to those parts of his brain that are affected by the belief that he’s the best 10 in the world.
Hopefully Giteau will get injured, Cos Deans isn’t gonna move his position.
I dont think he’s deluded. I think he wants to play in his favourite position and wants to play well. I dont think its an unhealthy want and i dont think he’d leave the code if he got benched or switched to inside.
Sam Two-dads went to play overseas cos he wasn’t gonna play 10 for the Tahs, but that was after 3 seasons or something.
If the Tahs won the comp with him in fullback i aussure you he’d have stayed.
Sunday night weekend Rugby wrapup show here in NZ fronted by an ex-AB has inside scoop of Deans gone unless there’s a ’significant’ improvement over next 4 weeks.
2/4 may not be enough guys – who’d take over ?
Foley
Cheika – has to be.
Kiwis gloating: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=10606618
My take on some of it is:
Bam Bam is no George Smith, who should have been there at the front end of the game. BB was completely outplayed by McCaw.
With Barnes out, Gits is the only current viable five eighth option at this level.
Genia, Diggers and AA-C were pretty good. Diggers needs to be at 13, closer to the action.
It’s time to try Tyrone Smith at 12. QC if we’re desperate. AA-C at fullback.
We need to consider Tucky at No 3. At least he has some experience and was in pretty good form before injury.
Big Kev looked good in the first half but faded like the rest.
The lineout was poor and has been for a while. Throwing to the Cat was cheeky but everyone knows about it now; it’s only a ‘one trick pony’ anyway.
I don’t think the bench was used that well – left it too long to bring on impact players. Bam Bam should have been replaced, not Cliffy.
They’re just not up to it against quality opposition.
thumb up for that post.
i think its time to try QC at 10 and put giteau back in 12.
I like Tyrone, and he should get game time, but i dont think he’ll start a test under deans this year unless theres more injuries
IMHO Palu was nonetheless showing the affects of fatigue. Pocock wasn’t; unless he’s very good at hiding it.
True Pocock was shaded by McCaw, but not until late in the second half when the whole Wallaby pack was beginning to fade. And the insertion of George didn’t alter that.
McCaw is head and shoulders above any other “7″ in the world and has been for some time. But in less than two years from now he won’t be any better than he is now and neither will George Smith. There is a lot of scope for Pocock to improve and I believe that you will see an entirely different player in him by this time next year.
Players like McCaw and the legendary Michael Jones and to a lesser extent George Smith are freaks. We need to be careful of condemning quality players early in their careers because they don’t compare with them.
On another note, don’t take too much notice of what is said on Kiwi rugby shows. Most of what they say about Deans’ future is conjecture and they don’t have any better idea of what is going on in Oz rugby than anyone else.
There are some unassailable facts about this whole situation.
Firstly: The pool of rugby talent on show in Australia in the current
Wallaby touring squad is the best available. The odd ommission (like Gerrard) won’t change the existing dynamics. Face it, this is what we’ve got and it aint going to get any better.
Secondly: The Wallabies are running third in the SH right now, because both the Boks and the ABs are better.
The results show it and it is a fact.
There isn’t a coach in the world who is a magician and it takes magic for a third tier team to be better than a top tier team. The best they can do is compete. But for two horrible episodes in the last two years the Wallabies have done just that – competed, and competed reasonably well.
Thirdly: This decline didn’t happen overnight. Wallaby rugby has been slowly eroding since Eddie Jones was the coach. There have been some blips and bumps which have almost tricked us into thinking the corner had been turned, but the overall trend has been downwards.
Fourthly: It’s painful getting beaten by the ABs on seven consecutive occasions. Wales, on the other hand, haven’t beaten them for 50 years. Things go in cycles and whilst most Kiwis are gloating just now it was just a few short months ago when the whole nation wanted Henry and Co put on a truck and packed off to the meat works. My point is that things change and sometimes very rapidly. It’s been a long journey for the Wallabies to this locality in time. I don’t know when the climb back up will start, but it will start. I wouldn’t delay that occurence by changing the coach just yet.
A lot of good points in there Robbo
That does remind me that beating the kiwis once in four years still felt pretty good last time.
But would beating them every now and then inbetween be so bad?
A hearty note of thanks to Robson for his words of wisdom.
The other thing to note is that the ABs just have a far superior backline to ours currently. If you look at 9, 10, 12, 13 and 15, they were all better than us (esp. 10: DC). This is not to say that we can’t turn it around, and a couple can hold their heads high (eg Ioane). The AB forwards killing the ball and loitering with intent did not help Genia get quick ball to the backs. (Btw, I still highly rate Will G).
The big problem we face is Ma’a Nonu at 12: he is such a big unit we need a bit of bulk to defend against him. But to do that we sacrifice having a playmaker there acting in the role of 2nd 5/8. This is a massive issue we must solve before 2011.
But all is not lost for the RWC. JOC, QC and KB will hopefully improve in their defence and poise over the next couple of seasons.
Anyway, I just hope the boys can bounce back in the UK, and put the NH in their place. Hopefully, Deans can have a quiet word with the refs about how the rucks will be policed: even our dear friend at the Times, Stephen Jones, is getting fed up, which is saying something.
Some good perspective in some of the above posts, but I just can’t believe this side is giving 100%, particularly in the forwards.
There’s a complete lack of urgency to get to the ruck, to get up and rejoin it, to clean out, get in position, to pull ABs off the ruck who are making a nuisance of themselves. No intensity. We saw glimpses against SA in Brisbane, but that’s the effort they need for the full 80 in each match. If they don’t give it, hook them or get rid of them.
Desperate times call for desperate measures. We need a more aggressive, attacking approach.
Let’s face it, there’s nothing to fear about this Wallaby side, and fear is a great weapon.
just imagine how great its gonna feel when the wallabies beat the all blacks… ahhhh
