Pacific Focus to Global Rapid Rugby in 2019

The Force’s season effectively takes part in two components, the first being an Asian Showcase Series including the South China Tigers and Asia Pacific Dragons in a home and away format.  The Dragons will play out of Singapore and the Tigers from Hong Kong.

Following that, the Force will move into a Pacific Showcase Series with the Fijian Latui and Kagifa Samoa. Fiji’s home games will be in Fiji, while Samoa will play theirs at Navigation Home Stadium in Auckland, and at Ballymore in Brisbane, while Samoa’s home venue is being constructed.

The series are book-ended by more boutique games with the Force to host a “World XV” coached by Robbie Deans featuring the likes of Digby Ioane and Andy Ellis on 22 March. Then, on the day before the Wallabies and All Blacks & Wallaroos and Black Ferns double header in Perth on 10 August, the Force have scheduled a “Bledisloe Showcase” with details still to come.

Winners of the Asia and the Pacific series will access an $50,000 (AUD) prize purse to assist local community rugby programs.

Rapid Rugby has partnered with global broadcast company Input Media to produce a live turnkey production, while negotiations are continuing with leading Asia Pacific TV networks and online broadcasters to televise games and highlights.

Some interesting games there. It should be worth a look.

Great they’ve got the ball rolling. Looking forward to see these sides in action!

Excellent news, and thanks for the write-up Reg! Got my overseas membership for the Force already sorted, and can’t wait for the first Singapore game on 5 May.

And good that Forrest is showing the love to the Pacific teams, if its true that WR and its members are looking at shafting them with their World Rugby comp?

When I first read the draw I wondered why Samoa had no home games. I’m sure they’ll get a good turnout in Brisbane and Auckland

Really important these games continue in West Australia to promote opportunities for juniors coming through grass roots as well as the Pacific Island Teams. I like how the teams get an opportunity to play at home or close to.

Cheers Reg! Think this got lost in the deluge of other rugby news and games this week but it’s good news. Couple of great little comps continuing to spread the word and some showcase matches. Hopefully RA and Twiggy get together to ensure the Bledisloe Showcase is cross-promoted with the internationals and they build a really awesome weekend of rugby

The original prop in a prop's body, but thankfully I have the rugby mind of a prop as well.
