Podcast 218 – Live from Baghdad

With the 3rd Wallabies v England test this weekend host, Sir Rugby-football “Rugby-Reg” Reginald, Hugh “Barbarian” Cavill and Matt “Gagger” Rowley go through this week’s five burning questions:

  1. Will we stick with the game plan from previous weeks and just hope it works?
  2. Will Toomua make a difference to the backs?
  3. Will Skelton (pun intended) make a difference to the forwards?
  4. Does Cheika have an selection strategy or is he just making stuff up?
  5. Has Hansen won the mind games?

We hope you enjoy these as much as we do making them and love hearing feedback, reviews or suggestions. So get in touch via: itunes, facebook, twitter, discuss(below this article), soundcloud.

An interesting listen as always here in Troll-land in the Northern Hemisphere. Just as a matter of interest did Rolands report mention any Auz penalties that were given incorrectly? or was it just the three you mention. I can understand Auz frustration with some of the calls and if I put myself in Wallaby shoes I can imagine being unimpressed with a couple. Having said that I think Jouberts leniency at the set piece kept Auz in the game. You looked to struggle again in the scrum in the AP you simply wouldn’t be allowed as much interference in the air and hanging onto jumpers as Auz did. Will be interesting to see what Owens makes of it on what should be a sunny day and a surface that isn’t a disgrace to rugby.

    • Or maybe if Joubert had penalised every scrum that Cole dropped, as he did in the first test, it would’ve been a very different match?

Great listen again. Can come in my ears anytime.

Fingers crossed for a hard and fast track on Saturday and Skelton being a wrecking ball with hands silk and vintage Palu sorting out the poms around the ruck.

Think you glossed over Haskell’s absence a bit. Sure the English pack was immense as a unit but Haskell was talismanic. I feel it’s almost on a scale with losing Pocock he’s been that good recently. Could even give us an edge!

    Two more sleeps.

Surprised Carter wasn’t mentioned. I can understand that Simmons and carter are unlikely to be in the same 23 as they are quite similar but I thought he ran the lineout well (better than Simmons in the first) and was decent around the park (no worse than Simmons) . I imagine Simmons injury must have been the reason he wasn’t in the squad for Melbourne.

    (great podcast as ever guys)
