Podcast 244 – The GAGR Awards

This week Reg, Matt and Hugh wrap up the year with our final podcast in which we decide on the following awards:

  1. Highlight of the season
  2. Lowlight of the season
  3. Best Australian Rugby Player (Reg let’s slip the GAGR Wallaby of the year)
  4. Your wish for 2017
  5. Favourite Podcast Guest

Thanks for listening everyone this year and tune in around Sydney Sevens time in early February for our 2017 show.

  • Gottsy

My other wish for 2017 is that someone gets Matt a pop filter so his recording level doesn’t drop after his strong plosive sounds ;-)

    • Having an operation to de-plosive

      • Gottsy

Haha nice, off season surgery all round!
Thanks to all of you for the good work this year, was a trying year wasn’t it. All the best for ’17

    • Can’t help but agree.

  • paul

    Thanks Guys,
Fantastic stuff, discovered you guys earlier this year and now compulsive listening.

    • RugbyReg

thanks Paul. Stay tuned for 2017!

  • Mart

    Great stuff guys.

Things can only get better. My week’s not complete until I’ve listened.

Another few ingredients to Bledisloe glory next year. No major injuries and No Owens, Pyper, Poite …. or any French ref for that matter.

Oh one other thing to add to the low lights, this one for Rugby as a whole.
The diving, milking and gaming of the ref’s.

The soccer vibe’s creeping in. Every time someone has exaggerated something to the ref to get a result it has pretty much paid off.

The only instance it was not rewarded was when Wales played the Argies and Priestland threw his arms in the air when Hernandez scored and the Ref ignored him. More of this please.

    Will listen later.

That’s it for 2016, in the mean time just remember,

    Keep Calm and GAGR On

  • Kevino

Job well done on all the good work this year. Looking forward to 2017

    1) Rebels winning in Sydney, Ireland winning against NZ in Chicago
    2) Ireland losing 6 Nations to a England Grand Slam
    3) Genia, by a mile
    4) Rebels to win Super Rugby and Ireland to win 6N and stop the Poms breaking the record in the final round.
    5) Bob

  • Dingleberry Hufflethwaite III

Thanks lads. Loved ‘em all this year. Compulsive listening and it will feel weird not hearing you until the new year.

    Have a good one! Cheers!!

    • Hugh Cavill

      Onya Dingleberry. Same to you.

  • Brisneyland Local

Thanks lads for a wonderful last Pod of the year.
Still got a few weeks of commuting with the great unwashed and now have no podcast to listen to On wednesdays. How will I cope.

The Christmas gift I would get for Billy Pulver and Michael Cheika is a Clue! Because between the two of them it is evident that they dont have one!

Agree with Genia winning, it is great to have the little General back!

Have a great Christmas, as I cant bring myself to be politically correct and say Happy Holidays! (What utter crap).

    • Pearcewreck

      Love your work again BLL.

      Have a great Christmas everyone.

      • Brisneyland Local

Thanks for laughing at my pooor humour!
No one in my household does!

        • Pearcewreck

Well, based on our Aussie rugby results all year long, if you didn’t laugh you’d cry.
          Maybe 2017 will be better.

        • Brisneyland Local

It better be, or there will be a revolt!

  • From the Frontier

Loved the podcast all year, fantastic job guys. Living in the rugby wilderness of Melbourne, this pod is my life buoy tethering me to the real world.

PS. I’m at the frontier of your latest Christmas wish to eradicate kick and catch from Australia. I’ll do what I can to make this a reality!

  • Pearcewreck

You sound like a fun person.
