Prize Comp: Predict the Score 3N Game 1

When it comes to knowing their rugby, G&GR readers are quite obviously frikken gurus – see the way we owned the Foxsports Fantasy rugby yet again. However, here’s your chance to get even further ahead of the game.

For each of the Wallaby Tri-Nations games this season, we’re going to be giving away

  • A complete Bob Dwyer Coaching Manual, RRP $230
  • Rocky Elsom: Leader of the Wallabies by Bret Harris, RRP $35

to whichever clever bastard gets closest to the score for each of the Tri-Nations Wallaby tests in 2011 (so four sets of prizes in all).

To enter for this Saturday’s game, just stick what you reckon the scoreline (Aus X – RSA Y) will be in a comment box below. Whoever puts the closest scoreline in first gets the prize. Entries will close at kick-off and one entry each. Simple eh? So man up and get your numbers in.

Here’s a bit of blurb about each of our fabulous prizes:

ROCKY ELSOM: LEADER OF THE WALLABIES is an insightful and revealing look into the rugby union career of one of Australia’s greatest Wallabies, Rocky Elsom, as seen through the eyes of the key figures in his life, including family members, team-mates and coaches. From representing Australia at under 16s level to attaining cult status in Ireland and named as the best player in the world, Rocky has exerted the same talismanic influence on the Wallabies that Richie McCaw has had on New Zealand. A rugged individualist, Rocky’s biggest task to date will be leading the Australian team for the World Cup in New Zealand in September 2011.

THE BOB DWYER COACHING MANUAL is a high quality, 200+ page step-by-step guide to rugby coaching. It will lead you through 77 specific practices, complete with key principles, diagrams and explanations.  The application of these key principles will ensure quality execution of quality technique – the basis of ALL quality play.

Terms and conditions: open to residents of Australia only. We reserve the right to alter the competition and prizes if necessary

Rocky needs to get sacked as captain!!! and Horwill needs to get the job! Rocky plays better when he is a grumpy, uncompromising bastard. One that does not worry about who he pisses off, and can go balls to the wall for the full 80! As right now it is obvious that he cannot think straight in the heat of battle, and is currently rusty as shit and still thinks he is back in Canberra in the phyiso room getting his pussy waxed!

Rocky to worry about Rocky, and Horwill and Genia to steer the good ship Wallaby back to the promise land and get Bill back where he belongs!

Australia 30 RSA 12 (they’ll get more penalties from good kickchases; Beale QC and JOC will still score individual tries.)

Does anyone know if Bjorn Basson is faster than any Aussies?

      • suckerforred

Straight line or through traffic? Either way I think he is faster then most but in a straight line he would struggle against Davies. But then again most people who aren’t olymic sprinter would struggle against Davies.

        • Patrick

Let’s hope that if we do find out it is running in the right direction at least!

I’m sick of all this vague going on instinct BS. Let’s get a bit of science happening here.

Sydney weather forecast for Saturday Min 11 Max 16 A few showers. Partly cloudy. Scattered showers, more frequent along the coastal fringe. Winds south to southwesterly averaging up to 35 km/h decreasing below 30 km/h by early evening.

That weather seems to favour the Saffers. However when the Qantas Wallabies run out onto the field the Sth Africans will spot the Qantas logo, remember their aborted flight, their confidence will sink and they will turn into soft cocks. That should even things up a bit.

    Wallabies 15 Bokke 12 ;)

Though through moments of magic, not collective collaboration.

Pocock will have a tough day at the office as it becomes clearer that many(ok, some) in the pack cant do the tough stuff to the level required….

This has got to be the game Elsom stands up, or is put on final notice!

put up or shut up time boys!

    • JnrG

Eeegads! just realized how optimistic i was being given the weather in Sydney!!!

Guess thats what happens when you’re far from home and wearing rosy (red!) colored glasses.

AUS 23 – 17 SA is more likely- too late now…

      Here hoping anyhow!

  • Robson

I don’t think the Samoans did the Springboks any favours. Neither did Robbies Deans who is a better psychologist than a rugby coach. Just ask Matt Giteau, or maybe don’t ask him.

If the Wallabies don’t come out firing on all six and maintain the pressure for the full 80, then forget about them as likely contenders for the RWC.

Wallabies by three tries (two converted) plus two penalties to South Africa’s single converted try plus two penalties – 25 to 13.

  • Adori

    21-15.

A dour affair with the Boks points coming from penalty goals.

Looking forward to a pugnacious (love that word) performance from Simmons and Rocky. If the Rockster doesnt fire – and i mean FIRE – then its time for Horwill to take captaincy and Higgers to take the number 6.

  • Tallboy
