  • Huw Tindall

Brums by 7, Force by 15.

Brums will play smarter football than the Reds did last week and I don’t think Rebs have the firepower to take on the Brums defence.

Tahs are in all sorts but Force won’t punish them as much as the Brums did last week. Still should win easy enough with the ton of talent they have even if they are still working on the combinations.

    • Reds Revival

This is where we will see how smart a coach Dave Wessells is. If he changes his tactics again to catch the Brumbies off guard, then I will be very impressed. However, I think given the limited combinations he has in his backline, I don’t know if he can be too adventurous there (which is probably the reason he went for his simplified game plan in Brisbane).

      • Keith Butler

Totally agree RR. When you have limited options outside and a pack who seem to be competitive, a least on last Friday’s showing, then the KISS principle is the way to go. I think Huws score line in a little optimistic for the Rebs as I expect a comfortable win for the Ponies. I also don’t think that the Tahs can afford to put in another slack performance. If their forwards front up it could be a close run thing.

    • Brisneyland Local

Your tips are bang on with mine Huw. Great minds think a like! ;-)

  • KwAussie Rugby Lover

Thanks Sully, some interesting calls there for the Force and they may do ok if they can get their combinations going. I’ll be at that game and hoping it’s a good one.
Rebels will struggle and it’ll be inter3sting to see their defence against the Brumbies maul. If they watched how Canterbury did against the Highlanders they may get some pointers. I think the Brumbies will be too strong, especially at home

    • Canterbury V Highlanders?
Get Moody to be offside then punch ppl with impunity? ;)

      • KwAussie Rugby Lover

Yeah shit decision by the referee. Good he’s acknowledged he fucked up but i also hope he’s put something in place to ensure it doesn’t happen again

        • Yeah, a slap is one thing, open palm strike is different. Generates a substantial concussive force.
Oh well, worked at stopping the maul momentarily.

  • A Dingo Stole My Rugby

Chibba! One of my favourite players. Criminally underrated. Unafraid to stick his head in dark places and do the largely-unseen sh!t work.

  • Hoss

I am beginning to believe I may have some kinda subconscious bias towards the Tah’s, but even acknowledging said predilection, I cant pick em this week.

Oh, wait, it’s only the Force. Tah’s by 19.

    • Yowie

Reds to continue their undefeated run this week.

      • Hoss

I love that the Padre has sent them to clubland to continue the connection and engagement with the deranged, sorry, Queensland rugby public.

Why is it that there is always beauty and genius in simplicity.

        • Yowie

When I saw some of the outer suburbs on the agenda to I got nervous. Sure the Reds are big lads, but it doesn’t make a glass to the face any easier.

        • Hoss

I hear you. Whenever I go north i put on a limp, convulsive drippling and loudly pronounce ‘special love of kin’ just not to alert your lot i aint from dem-der parts.

        • Yowie

Even with those measures there is a high risk of being chased out of town to the sound of banjo music, whoopin’ and/or hollerin’.

        • Damo

I hope you’ve got the singular/ collective pronoun ‘youse’ going when youse are up here Hoss, ‘eh.

        • Hoss

Thank you for correcting me, I’ve always spelled it ‘ewes’……

        • Yowie

Sometimes I worry that this sheep-jokes website and forum gets distracted by rugby comments.

        • KwAussie Rugby Lover

That one’s for New Zealand mate

        • Yowie

Does it get confusing when someone says to a group of Kiwis “Hey youse over there!”?

        • Reds Revival

Does it get confusing arousing when someone says to a group of Kiwis “Hey youse over there!”?

        • Yowie

          Per the Foreman’s Incident Report:

“…and then all my scaffolders all ran off through a hedge into an adjoining paddock, then turned up 5 minutes later really annoyed at me”.

        • KwAussie Rugby Lover

          We all look

        • Custardtaht

Which players are turning out for the Beijing Keswicks? Qld Reds, couldn’t be more appropriately named……

        • Brisneyland Local

Deranged is about right mate. We do love a little bit of nutty up this way.

    • KwAussie Rugby Lover

I’m hoping the Tahs do step up but they’ll need to make some changes in both attitude and game plan. Going to the game so I’ll give you the on field buzz

      • Hoss

I think Bell out of the 23 and Horton to the pine sends a clear message.

I’ve got no issue with coach Penney, he inherited the squad.

        • Timbo

Yes true but what did he do with the second row?

        • Hoss

Starting Sinclair who i haven’t noticed as being overly tall ?? Benched Whetton. Beyond that i think our Lock stocks are barrelled.

I’d dust off the size 13’s but i pulled a hammy putting on socks today, bugger.

        • Reds Revival

I wonder why Wood is not getting a crack. By all reports, he was on the fringes of the Reds squad (having come through the U20’s). He scored a try in the trial and then never heard of again. Hopefully, it is not the usual Waratahs development plan.

        • KwAussie Rugby Lover

wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest

        • Brisneyland Local

You said it right there. They Tah’s wouldnt pick anyone that the Qlders were interested in.

        • KwAussie Rugby Lover

You might not, but the management will even if just to save their own arses

        • Who?

Bell was ok during the games – but he’s injured, isn’t he? Left the field hobbling. I thought the issues at scrum time were as much about the locks as anything else, and I thought they were retreating on the tight side as much as the LHP. Which would be HJH’s problem…
Funny, watching a couple of highlights, I reckon Bell’s already bigger than HJH. Maybe HJH needs some HGH..? That started as a typo….

      • Yowie

Tahs … need to make some changes in…attitude…

William: Here are the Reds’ terms. Lower your flags, and march straight back to NSW, stopping at every home to beg
forgiveness for 100 years of arrogance and theft of Wallaby positions (players and coaches). Do that and your men
shall live. Do it not, and every one of you will have to tackle a full-pace Tongan Thor.

Cheltham: You are outmatched. You have no Mossman boys-club connections. In two centuries
        no team has won without–.

William: I’m not finished. Before we let you leave, your captain must
cross that field, present himself before this team, put his head between
his legs, and kiss his own ass.

        (apologies to M Gibson)

        • KwAussie Rugby Lover

          hahahahaha Gold

    • *coff*

      • Hoss

        I assume you’re keeping your powder dry…….

        • concerns over possible premature vociferation

        • Hoss

Go the ‘Trump playbook’ mate – say what you like and deny it all as fake news or my personal favourite ‘alternative facts’.

You can subscribe to ‘H-ANON’ where nothing ever actually has to be right – you just keep adjusting the conspiracy & the date to the never-never. so you never have to confront any awkward truths.

        • Yowie

There is a Louise Theroux documentary where he hangs about with (and then still pursues once kicked-out) this US cult in the woodlands. F*ck it’s funny seeing the Enlightened Leader constantly move the goal-posts as to exactly when the Rapture is going to happen and what it will involve.

I think it culminates in them all running down the driveway of the compound making a lot of noise, then running back again.

Naturally, the Enlightened Leader being creepy with most of the women in the cult was also a factor.

        • Theroux is definitely watchable.

        • Yowie

          Most of the time.

I found the one about African game park hunting a bit tedious because he spent the whole time asking everyone “but do you think it’s right to kill the animals?”

This Jaapie eventually lost it at him for asking that all the time with a massive rant to the effect of:

All the f*king time from you about killing the animals! Look, South Africa is f*cked because we shoot everything and we eat everything

On reflection it was worth it for that payoff.

        • ya, saw that one.
For some reason everytime I hear his name I picture a bearded 4/5, perhaps 8 in the blue French jersey.
Bit of a disappointment when he appears…

        • Yowie

French rugby players would be terrible documentary filmmakers though. You can’t eye-gouge your way to earning the subjects’ trust.

        • Algeria hasn’t a rugby team?

        • Yowie

According to Wikipedia they do. The All Blacks have never defeated them either. Go Les Lionceaux!

[BS aside, I don’t get the reference, other than the French colonial connection. Please enlighten an ignoramus]

        • Dig at France, torture just admitted by Macron… poor taste perhaps

        • Yowie

All good. Turns out that chap didn’t just jump out of that window after the French got hold of him.

        • Brisneyland Local

We are not all ignorant. Just most of us! ;-)

        • onlinesideline
        • GeorgiaSatellite

          That’s fabulous

        • Yowie

          That’s pure gold.

        • March 6th, we shall storm the Capital.

        • Hoss

I think we can all agree on ‘March-ish’ as a fairly good starting point

        • After all that mind searching to come up with a word meaning “To voice strongly” it has been revealed to me by Google, that “ejaculation” was fine.

        • Yowie

“vociferation” was better I reckon. It’s not a clever implied double-meaning if it’s literally the same word as the rude expression.

        • Hoss

Please stop masticating when on this site mate.

        • Yowie

You make it sound like it’s every time.

        • Brisneyland Local

I always got told off for that aas a kid……………. chewing with my mouth open.

        • Who?

So you’re going to be inaugurated as the RA CEO and Chair tonight (March 4)..? ;-)

        • Hoss

The Spanish side deserved the win.

        • Que chingados Árbitro??

TBH I thought neither of them did…:/

        • Yowie

Habitual Offender is just quietly minding his business like the rest of WA’s rugby fans…

      Brave man!

  • Greg

Only just saw the Moody stuff.

Has he been suspended. Either for being an idiot or a thug?

It makes me think of the old days where someone would have straightened him out and the game would have been the better for it.

    • Hoss

His is the modern Richard Loe.

      • Yet Loe was a good player, remembered by most for being a total knob.
Moody is headed down the same path.
