Tuqiri’s hit on Flannery video highlight

Here’s the footage of the rib-cracking tackle Lote Tuqiri put on Jerry Flannery in the dying seconds of the test last Saturday, June 14th. A hit like that really lifts a team in defence, and it couldn’t have been better timed.

Having been a critic of Steve Austin in the past, there’s no denying that LT has had a great season with the Tahs and seems to be carrying that over into the Wallabies. Some have put it down to the shnozz reconstruction, others to a lighter training schedule, to me it seems like an attitude re-adjustment that’s made all the difference. Touch wood, there hasn’t been an off-field dick-head moment yet this season. Maybe he’s just finally grown up?

LT’s try-scoring drought has broken this year, but it’s the defender sucking go forward he gives that’s so valuable. Look at the pace and power he put on to destroy the Irish defensive line and put Barnes over for the first try of the test last weekend. And the hits he’s been putting in like this one haven’t gone amiss either.
