Here are a few alternative highlights of last weekends match between England and Australia at Twickenham. I’ve thrown in the pommy attacking highlights for free….
What you’ll find in the video from the Wallabies:
- Strong direct running and deft passing (until the final passes in front of the try-line…)
- A fantastic defensive effort. The forwards really stepped up and out muscled the poms
- Some remaining doubts in the line-out; this wasn’t a renowned jumping pommy lock pairing
- Highlights of big Cliffy’s impressive game.

From this video Rocky seems to be having a solid game… He used Banahan as a rag dole.
Yeah, well done cliffy, I have been a bit of a critic of his, but he had a blinder. I do remember that he played well against the NH teams last year as well, only to go quiet during the 3N – will be interesting to keep an eye on that.
Also cant beleive how offside Engerland’s defence was in the first half!
I like this beeza. Proving that it’s not just when we lose that we whinge about the reffing.
I’ve been a critic of Cliffy too but we’ve all known for yonks that he is capable of a big game. Back it up Cliffy! We’ll need you this weekend again!
And, yes – if you look up “white line fever” in the http://www.dictionary.com you’ll find a little clip of the Wallabies in this match. if you can’t find it, it’s next to the photo of Big Dell. They’ve really got it down to an art at the moment.
Completely agree on both points, I really hope Cliffy can finally get some consistancy.
On the white line fever only Fat Cat has an excuss as he is looking to offload and his only option is block off by a man in white. Perhaps this new attitude is a result of so many Wallabies for so many years making a break and finding themselves completely alone.
Does anybody know QC or any of the Wallabies coaching staff? If so send them this video and tell QC to look at the difference tackling low, minute 5.55, and tackling high, minute 7.02, can make.
He has a lots of talent and creates loads of attacking opportunities but his defence needs to tighten up and be more consistant.
I thought the big issue with cliffy this season was that he was rushed back in before he got back to full fitness. Don’t forget he had only played one club game before he got a start in that bledisloe, even he was surprised that he was given a start so quickly.
I think it’s easy to forgot about previous form and make generalisations about players based on their last 3/4 games. Generally if you haven’t got you’re form back by that stage you’re past it, but it takes 3/4 weeks just to get match fitness and i reckon 1 or 2 more for form.
I reckon prior to this year he performed consistonly doing wat he does best. Hitting up and making good metres, off-loading and making big tackles in defence.
The area that I think he has gone missing in big games that you need a bit more of a in a number 8 is in the counter rucking and in the ruck in general. I can’t recall seeing him in the ruck very often, he isn’t in any of your highlights tho u probably left some out. This seems to be an area that spies, and especially the nz 8’s, keiran reid and soiilijflj (however u spell it), get up on him.
It still is rare to see ball turned over through counter-rucking for the wallabies and i think this is crucial. We always wait for someone to pilfer, which puts to much pressure on smith? Cliff needs to step up here as do the rest of the forwards
im so glad that RD got rid of Richard Brown and put Palu back into the starting XV.
You need a wrecking ball at 8 and Palu is exactly that (just like spies), whereas i just dont see that with Brown. At this point, only see Brown doing well at domestic level but hardly at the international stage
I thought Palu was better than his AB performance, so his match fitness is obviously getting better and better with each game. I’m sure he will take the paddock against Ireland and I’m also sure that his performance will go up another notch.
As I’ve said before, he seems to be a player who needs the big matches to become conditioned to the big matches.
While you’re chatting to the staff about QC, can you get them to work on Kev’s body-height as well?
Thanks for the clip; a lot of us who live overseas can’t watch all the matches.
