Video Highlights: The Honey Badger goes vertical

Attending his first rugby international, my son found his first Wallabies hero — Nick ‘The Honey Badger’ Cummins, whose dynamism and commitment stood out a mile at the ground, and didn’t make a bad highlights reel either.

He also gave a pretty darn good post match interview about his ‘Test meat’!

  • all hail the honey badger

  • ooaahh

What a game… we need more fearlessness like that across the park, I can see him being a good 6 in his early 30’s

    • ooaahh

      I’ve just robbie deansed myself

  • wadyawannabe

talks like a human being, gets on with the job, what’s not to love? you’re going to wait a long time to see the honey badger tweet about scented candles

    • muffy

Honey Badgers KPI = more meat
      His Brand = non existent

      • Red Kev

Oh he has a brand – but he’ll never call it that or exploit it. But “The Honey Badger” is going vertical as a brand – I’m gonna get me a shirt made

  • Steve Timms

I just love the way he accelerates into contact.

Warms the cockles of my heart. Maybe even below the cockles Maybe in the sub-cockle area.

    Should be more of it.

    • Blinky Bill of Bellingen NSW

      Warms your plums you mean?

    • maybe in the liver, maybe in the kidneys, maybe even in the colon. We don’t know

      • Steve Timms

I knew someone would get it…

  • Robson

Cummins is also the master of post match diplomacy, pouring some oil on the troubled waters left by Quade, by giving Robbie Deans the thumbs up in his comments. He should be in the Wallabies for a long time to come!! Not saying, of course, that he doesn’t deserve to be either.

That defence at 15-20secs is the stuff of dreams. Make the force play him at 13, and have him bulk a bit like Sterlo. digby and JOC on the wings.

    • Why – just leave him where he is! Let him run over other wingers! Next thing he’ll be at 13 … then 15 might even get a shot at prop!

      • Ads

hey. Because I think he’s an even better/natural 13. 2 dads has been great, but is on the wane. I agree we have moved players around too much, but in the same way moving taps to 12 was the right thing, i reckon this is too.

        • Red Kev

I had my doubts about Cummins – mainly balance wise, he’s too similar to Digby as a winger (I like a winger who can kick) but 13 or 14 Cummins would be the second name on my backline roster after Genia these days.

  • Is it just me, or does he have the worlds thickest neck?

  • Nutta

It is rare that I admit to liking a Back… I am in the embryonic stages of developing something more then non-commital apathy for this Back

  • Johnny-boy

He encapsulates that I’m going to have bloody go attitude that has characterised good Wallaby teams in the past. He’s fun to watch cos you know that if the oppostion shows any hint of weakness or hesitation he’s going to give them hell. He fell over a bit quick when he barrelled that pommie winger and if he can learn to keep striding thru after dropping the shoulder he’ll cause pandemonium
