Plus smith has a kicking game, kind of sets him apart from most back rowers.
But seriously, if Waugh makes the team, even the bench I'll be disappointed. It's not like he can't do the job, he's just had opportunities and now there's a few young guys that will get there's.
Plus the Wallabies never had the chance to show they were good defenders, the Baa baas never got the ball.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

Around the tackle contest maybe a shade, but i think definitely smith and probably pocock are both better all round packages. love pocock's workrate, tackling, big fan of the bloke ditto richard brown. some real depth starting to emerge this season i reckon!!!
Current score: 1 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

I liked the way the Wallabies were able to keep their structure and still play to a pattern.
In years previous, the Wallabies were always guilty of playing to the standard of the opposition but last night they played their own game and everyone looked as thought they knew what was going on.
Phil Waugh was great in a beaten team. Pocock came on was his usual busy self, but I think Waugh showed that at the tackle contest, he is the best of the three contenders.
Current score: 1 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

I was at the game, agree with what beer&sport said.
I thought Valentine looked good off the bench. Much more adventurous than I was expecting.
How funny was it when QCooper came on for Gits and Berrick Barnes went into fly half?
O'Connor's try was the best, especially as he looks like a 5 year old playing grown ups. His kick to the corner was refreshing for a wallaby full back too.
The barbarians played a bit like the wallabies with tim tam in the lineup, coincidence?
I still think it's not a full test, but then we play italy twice and france. If anything this game looks tougher on paper than those three fixtures. I guess it's a good lead up to the trinations in terms of morale, but there will be an obvious step up in class when the real deal starts.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)
