You Choose – Episode 4: Force Tries in 2012

It’s only a couple of weeks until Super Rugby kicks off for 2013. So to warm up let’s have a look at some of the tries each Australian franchise scored in 2012.

We’ll start with the Force.

Try No1 to Hodgo. Poor old Dallan Murphy had never seen anything like the Honeybadger in full flight before.

Yep. #1 went through so many hands. Mafi’s step, and the Honeybadger’s charge with a big “Don’t argue” on Sideshow Bob Murphy… then out wide to the ‘Cock and Hodgo seagulling on the wing for the try. Great stuff.

  • As a Reds fan I seem to have no recollection of weeks 5 and 6 of the 2012 season.

The depressing thing is all the tries are scrappy and two came from the same game!

    The Honey Badger going vertical!!

  • Honey Badger Wins. Flawless Victory

Yeah you’ve gotta love the big BOOF by Cummins on Murphy. So those who say he should be on the wing and not OC are probably right. The kick from Seymour to Wara was equisite too. Pity a bit more of the Wallabies pre occupation with kicking last year wasn’t in the same class. But the try for me was # 3. Although there was some pretty lamentable tackling on Mafi early in the movement, I believe the foundation for the try lay with the physical dominance by the Force over the Rebs scrum. It illustrates perfectly what you can achieve from dominant set piece work among the grunters on the paddock. We need lots of that in 2013. Things will really start to glow if we do. They were all sizzling tries, but # 3 illustrates so well how important the foundations being laid up front are.
