QLD GPS Rugby 2018

The BSHS 14A team is huge and are going to be a force in that age group.

I've heard this as well. It would be interesting to see how many are below the 183cm and 83kg limit for that age group under the new rules.

It will also be interesting to see how many schools flout the rules across the age groups? I would imagine the schools will have to be careful, as a big player who exceeds the limits and causes a serious injury to another could raise questions of liability?

This goes to show how much things have changed over the years, for a few different reasons.

As recently as the 90's, and maybe even the early 2000's, there would have been many First XV flankers who were < 183cm and 83kg.

Re BSHA 14 A team is huge.
They were last year as well in 13 As & still lost to undefeated premiers BBC.

Look out comp.
as do GT -who beat BBC in a trial on Saturday after BBC put 40 on them last year.
Things change quickly-but never as quickly as a TSS 15A team(from the year before)

Impossible Terrace don’t import, just ask any Terrace parent

Is Gold or Blue the stronger GPS side selected? I keep switching. Team of champion v champion team? One bench look stronger than the other then I switch again.

If Nudgee, BBC, GT and TSS are expected to be top 4 than I assume Gold is strong one?

Then I look at Blue and key position, they have the talent too. OMG GPS has a pool of talent and excess of riches.

Gold has more of the "top" players in comp in 3,4,8,10 & 15.
They would have been in most pundits GPS 1 side.8 in Blue is right up there as well.

Did you mean to type 8 in that comment?

Think a lot of people would have Reno from TSS as first pick, suppose it depends what you want from your #8 , impact or hard on the ball ?

The starting teams are the top two ranked players in each position , with the next best ranked filling the benches.

The starting teams do look like genuine mix to me, but agree the Gold bench might have the edge , mainly because of the combinations it allows Gold to get on the paddock, particularly in the backs .

Plenty of fine players across both teams .

Let’s cut the shit and call a spade a shovel shall we ?

The quota system for the lesser quality teams has robbed better quality players from certain schools ( in certain positions ) their rightful opportunity

Only in about 8-9 spots in the selection pool- IE about 15% of the pool

Still , at a time where Rugby in Australia has been struggling and is crying out for best available talent - just remember punters it starts here ( in getting right )

Not saying I agree 100% with who was ranked 1&2 GO, just saying that is the way the teams have been explained.

The numbers from each school do look a little more even than you would think, but the teams are selected by the First XV coaches as a whole , not one person.

Who knows what happens in selection meetings ? Some probably push hard for as many as they can and turn into real salesmen, while others might only push for only those they believe have the ability to go to the next level.

Might explain what happened over in AIC?
