QLD GPS Rugby 2019

All over it

im starting to get really annoyed with the streaming company.

in rd9 last year they had all four games. in rd1 this year they had all four games. but as soon as bgs are available to be streamed, all of a sudden, they only have three games available to watch.

in three years they have never streamed bgs. I detect strong anti bgs bias. its a joke
It’s definitely not anti BGS bias. The King, Darveniza is an ex-BGS student. From my understanding the process of seeking approval from both the host and visiting schools is ridiculous and they do a great effort as it is. Maybe BGS are less willing to engage with the company but there would appear to certainly not be any anti BGS bias.

There is no doubt about it, Doubletake do a fantastic job in promoting and covering GPS rugby - without them the competition wouldn't be as highly anticipated each year. The reason I believe the Grammar games aren't live streamed is because BGS simply hasn't given Doubletake permission to do so. Why the school is against it is strange but just is the way it currently is. I'd highly doubt the facilities out at BGS being the issue causing no stream - After all they have live streamed from Carina which in terms of facilities certainly isn't the best.

Downlands are 2 and 0 now having taken down BGS and TGS.

On current form you’d back them over GT , ACGS and BSHS and say they belong in the top half of the table ......,maybe not in in the Top 2 but against next tier down at 3 and 4 - absolutely

It would be a mistake for teams to think they are getting an easy game in the bye round when they play Downlands this year

15, 9 , 19, 12 , 10 and 3 - outstanding for Downlands - Grealy ( 15 ) showing why he’s the best schoolboy outside back in QLD and maybe the best 15 the competition has seen since Kaelyn Ponga - surely the best that has come from the Downs since Jonah Placid

I heard a rumour that all BBC teams from 14A and down will be going uncontested in the scrum for the rest of the season. Any truth to it?

Who gives a shit-if it not safe its not safe.
We all know your little Jonnie did not make the A team, and you have an axe to grind
Oh yes-I know they have had 2 terms to sought it out.But your ego is more important than potential spinal injuries.
Ps- I watched the 12A match yesterday & it was contested scrums & it was a big win for BBC.

Mate its gooses like you that have seen "football" numbers nearly double rugby at most GPS schools.
On a positive note that BSHS 15 A team is red hot and the number 13 is best player I have seen this year

The 1st XV competition has become a joke (read "arms race" of scholarships/importing, NRL conscripts, 3 year completion of Grades 11-12 etc). I trust that in the soon to come years/s that the tiered competition like AAGPS that Nudgee, TSS and BCC enjoy playing each other twice (home and away) as their 6 game season in Div 1.

More high score one-way games predicted for next week. May need a mercy rule such is the two tiered nature of the comp this year.

NC vs GT
BBC vs BGS
TSS vs BSHS
IGS vs TGS

I expect Churchie will be kind of glad to have the weekend off. 101 points against in two games has got to suck. State high has had 100 points against and still has TSS next round. Ouch! Home teams by 40 again next week. BBC to absolutely whack BGS and put in a clinical 70 minute performance breaking 50 points and yes,..all three other teams playing away to get at least 40 points put on them also.

I heard a rumour that there were two spinal injuries in GPS rugby this week. Is there any truth in this?
Unfortunately there was a lad from Churchie injured in the 16A’s. I’m not sure on how the incident occurred but he is still in hospital. Best wishes to him, his family and teammates.

Think you will find after next year it will become NC v TSS x 3 , bit like SOO .

BBC heading in a different direction come 2021, new HM and all . Robotics though looking very strong .

You mean the boys can’t get off their ass and walk over to the canteen from the stand on International Oval?

C’mon
Do they take the religious theme that far...all the boys sitting about on asses watching the rugby while eating cheeseburgers? Where do they stable all those asses?

Thankyou for the reply. That is sad news. Here’s to a speedy and full recovery.

So our leaderboard for the week is below. A large number managed 4/4 so I won't pick out individuals.

Could I ask that you make sure you're using the same name each week, I want the table to represent where you actually are, if I have put you in twice let me know and I'll change it.

Terrace were the biggest backed looser with 13% tipping them, probably a reflection in doubt over BBC rather than faith in the Red and Black.

dont think we have seen ACGS in full flight yet, versing arguably the two best teams in the opening rounds of the competition. Last years XV was comprised of year 12 for the most part so 2019 has presented a fairly new and young team. High hopes for the rest of the season
I dunno, they play with heart and skill but bottom 3 this year I think.

Yeah, nah, i don’t think it’s gooses like me that have soccer numbers up.

In my opinion there are a number of reasons
1) over protective parents.
2) a growing apathy for tradition.
3) soccer is the politically correct sport to play.
4) a lack of ‘toughness’ in today’s youth, a phenomenon we are seeing more of as we get further away from the generation of people that won WW2

I could go on and on
