When do the NRC teams get announced and is the draw available?

Think the teams get officially announced around the grand final but I think the coaching staff would be having selection meetings and player discussions now.

Would Ben Mowen be selected or would he want to play NRC?

He was an East Coast Aces player in the original (Mazda) NRC so he could "qualify" for BC or QC (Quade Cooper) this time around.

I doubt whether he'd be that interested but would be a valuable experienced head in one of the two Qld teams.

Does he have any super rugby left in him?

I would love to see him play a full season for Easts.

Whatever Benny’s intentions were to play social rugby on a Saturday afternoon will go out the door once he has a chance to ramp it up in NRC. A true competitor. The younger players will gain so much by having him around.

Better be careful throwing stones in your glass houses fellas

Would you be able to provide us with a link to an ASADA article naming the GPS player you seem to be implying and the Grand Final they were tested after? I'd like to be comparing apples with apples.

100% strip them of the Premiership, disgraceful cheating.

Well probably not so quick. At this stage it appears to be an individual and probably not other members of the team or indeed the club. Steroids do have a medical usage within rugby under the guidance and application of a specialist medial officer. With this application the usage is probably sanctioned by the club doctor and QRU.

I don't know of the steroids outlined in the report, however it is "prohibited both in-and out-of-competition. Anabolic agents pose many threats to an athlete’s health and some side effects may include an increase in blood pressure and cholesterol" etc so it is very concerning. If it was an isolated case i.e. one person I don't think they should have the title taken away; if it was over a number of players and "seemed" to be a systematic abuse of the rules, then UQ would have a case to answer. So far this is not the case.

Either way, it may be useful for UQ to preempt any further flack and maybe have potential players (1st, 2nds and Colts 1) tested for the coming finals, to give the rest of the comp. some assurances.

How much does a drug test cost? Don’t see any benefit in testing reserve grade players... I am still unsure if premier players should be tested but understand why ASADA randomly turns up to games (usually happens when the reds cattle is back in clubland)

^^^^

think they r relative inexpensive. nfl and afl have hundreds, if not thousands of them a year.

Sporting codes really have no choice but to sign up to the ASADA testing protocols, its often tied to the ASC and funding. If the opt to not be part of it they risk losing funding.

So just had s look at the original story via the link from Reg, it’s dated 21/01/2019.

You would have thought if stripping a premiership was on the cards we hopefully would have heard about by now.
