Wallabies 2020

Brumby Runner

David Wilson (68)
I'm not sure why you'd think he'll be a shoe in when all the players who were selected ahead of him except Pocock are all still available. He will definitely get more caps next year but whether that's because he's a shoe in is the part I doubt.

He was overlooked this year because of his age and the thought that he was injury prone. He is now in his early 20s and old enough, and has well and truly put to rest the concerns about his physical well being. He is an absolute rock in defense, probably the hardest hitting tackler in Aus rugby. He can jump adequately for a 4th jumper in the lineout, and he carries the ball very strongly. He is an out and out test No 6 or No 8. A combination of Valetini/Naisarani in 6 and 8 is what the Wallabies have been calling out for since the early 2000s.

I don't doubt he'll be a highly capped and valuable Wallaby. He wasn't overlooked so much, he is a work in progress. I will say however that the 6 jersey is still going to be wide open, it's probably out of him, Dempsey and Samu for the July tests, so the SUper season will provide more insight.

Interesting comments from Cheika in resigning:
“It is no secret I have no relationship with the CEO and not much with the chairman,”

That was news to me at least.

I wonder how any of those three, at that top level, considered they’d build a really thriving and successful Wallaby team or RWC outcome with that state of relations (or lack of relations to quote MC) between them.

Dont feel he needs to say these things to the media. Just announce it and move on, no point dragging yourself or anyone else through the mud on the way out. Just leads to unnecessary drama.

It has always seemed to me that there is a fair degree of interchangeability between 15 and 10. So I would like to see Isaac Lucas given a trial at 10.

Can't help but think Samu would have had more impact than Poey

I actually somewhat agree..........

He was in dynamite form, and he had the best ball running stats of any Aus backrower - most tackle busts, metres per carry etc.

But now that Cheika's gone I would assume he'll return to the Wallabies if he continues to play like he did this year.
