Congratulations to all boys who played in the AAGPS Rugby competitions this year.

Congratulations to Grammar on their 3rd XV premiership. It was a fitting moment today when their captain raised the Col Windon Shield on Weigall #1.

Congratulations to Joeys on their 2nd XV premiership. That's three years in a row undefeated in the 2nds and a great achievement.

Congratulations to Kings on their 1st XV premiership. They were the best side all year and confirmed that today with an impressive victory.

I look forward to doing it all again with you next year.

And remember...

Its Not Pink.

Shore go in late and convert to make it 41-24 @ FT. They fought really hard in patches then had some dumb tactics for a lot of it. Waaaaaay too much kicking to the View #15 who just ate up the metres and scored a couple in the process.

Pretty scrappy game compared to HH.

Congratulations to TKS on the win clearly a champion team, I had thought Joeys would win it, Congratulations Joeys in the 2nds and Grammar in the thirds good to see them in the winners circle GPS rugby needs it.

All players from all teams are all the better for playing GPS rugby especially this year. see you next year Joker when the force will be with us again ....... and the empire will strike back ........

Can live with that. This season they’ve conceded 2 or 3 tries in a hurry and then put ten minutes together where they’ve looked the dominant side. With the 16s coming through I think next season should be a lot better with title contention in the mind for the season after.

I'd love to agree with you but reality tells me another scenario will play out.
Shore's new Headmaster is committed to local grown talent in all sports across the school and will not countenance any efforts to bolster playing strength.
Despite a new coaching team for the 1sts the team finished last again, with the worst for and against record of all GPS teams.
On occasions, their opponents fielded many 2nd XV players for significant periods of the match.
Once upon a time in the dim mists of antiquity, schools relied on natural swings and roundabouts of talent coming through the school to springboard into Premiership contention.
Shore's potential to win games over the next two years is possibly there under current playing rosters, but each of the other 5 schools is willing and able to bolster key positions and therefore negate the home-grown strength of Shore.
I fear for the future of Shore as a participant in the 1st XV competition.

Perhaps your mail is different to mine but I had heard that the new Headmaster wasn't so committed to local talent.

Congratulations Kings. They have now won their 30th premiership.
A well drilled team who played an excellent season. Great defensive performance today
Congratulations to the coaching staff.

It is a pity the students from both schools couldn't attend.
Both teams deserved praise.
Plus Kings would have enjoyed the Joeys boys standing and giving them three cheers as they left the field.

Congratulations to all who played this season. Well done to all schools for making this happen.
We shall never see a season like this again.

Here is the adjusted table courtesy of yours truly.

Signing off for season 2020.

Interesting table Joker.

I find it perplexing that the School that is 2nd in 2nd XV Comp (and by a considerable margin) is 2nd last in the 1st XV comp.

An anecdote to support my mail - Shore won the GPS rifle shooting this year and the new HM said "See I told you that home grown talent is a winning policy".
Perhaps you are referring to the recruitment of an external coach for for the 1st XV this season.
Players - no way.

No, I had heard it about players but that may have just been hopeful rumours, what you are saying sounds much more concrete.

G’Day all, TDO here.

Just a couple things.

Joeys got flogged today and that’s alright but goes to show that they are all bark and no bite on here.

Leaving now, TDO.

This is spot on. He wrote very directly on this topic in the school newsletter of 7 Aug after Shore got 2nd in the senior athletics point score and won the rifle shooting; re-committing to the GPS code of conduct and ruling out targeted sports intake.

Pleasingly they are getting in a lot more quality coaching help for rugby and the S&C program has picked up so they are doing more with what they have.
