Pretty sure he went back to Melbourne when Kaitu'u was fit again:

Anyone else find this decision to send him back to Melbourne incredibly stupid with zero hope of getting back into camp if someone gets inj over the next few weeks.

Well they have BPA, Kaituu, Fainga'a and Lonergan. Plus not sure if Mcinerney is still with them.

I think what is more bewildering is why him and not one of the others.

No, the birth of your kid is more important than a rugby match
I don't believe Uelese is having a child, I think he was released from the squad when the player he was called in to replace returned from injury.

3 Hookers is probably enough for a squad, even in covid times. He didn't have the best showing in the last couple of games so he may have dropped back behind Lonergan in the pecking order. If he's little chance of playing then it's probably best he gets some time off at this stage.

They may also figure that with the rugby championship in Queensland Mafi is a good option for an outside the squad backup if they do need anyone else - not sure of his injury status though.

He is quality for half the game, always has been

I would rather a "lessor" player who can function in attack and defence than trying to hide someone for half the game

I see those continual compromises in player selection half the problem with aus rugby, more footballers, less athletes for me thanks

The way the game is against the ABs, who do not cherish possession, it's a lot more than half. I'll grant you that since Quade was a regular international 10, there is far less tolerance for a non-defending 10 today. But it still could be accommodated, if that 10 was good enough in attack and we had the pill enough.

Is that where we are with Quade? The only people who know are the guys in training with him. Which BTW is no different to your attitude that his D can't have been improved. You just don't know.

Personally I'd be sticking with Lolo at 10, in the absence of actually knowing what is going on. But if Quade is nailing it in training, I give it a 50/50 he'll make the bench.

The alternative, as I said earlier, is that the selectors think that Lolo has nailed his 10 basics. And I don't mind that either.

My concern is that if BPA rolls his ankle saturday then for 3 games we go into a test match with handful of caps across all of the hookers. I didnt think FF (Folau Fainga'a) was in the squad either

Uelese has been the second choice for the last couple of tests. Why would he be the one to go? Might have other personal reasons?

with 11 Brumbies out of 23, Dan McKellar influence

Why no Kaituú to give us WA fans something to cheer about. (Rodda still to debut for us so not the same)

Whinge over.

Easy choice of shirt now for when I go to the match on Sunday, will now have to be my Western Force jumper to remind Rugby Australia that we do still exist.

Good to see Samu back - I would have ditched Valetini for him though.

Bummed Kaitu'u didnt get picked. FF (Folau Fainga'a) isn't test standard by a long shot and Lonergan is a little on the petite side for a test hooker.

I would hope that players are selected based on who the coach thinks will give the team the best chance of winning regardless of if they are the home=town.

Force fans won't care who played hooker if the Wallabies win.

But Tahs, Reds and maybe Rebels fans will be lining up to knife the Brumbies if they lose (as they predictably will - and would with 11 from any other province).
