Wallabies 2021

I like how open minded Rennie is. Also curious about what the team would look like now and his long term planning. Kellaway and Cooper were definitely not in the frame mid Super season and now they're first on the team sheet.

I've been really impressed with Quade. A lot of stuff I'd heard about Quade was through the media. I've coached against him. He sent a message saying if you need any help at 10 with injuries – he knew James O'Connor was out, that we had limited opportunities to grab guys from NSW and Victoria, and he said he was prepared to just come down and train and help out. Him and I sat down for 90 minutes and had a chat around where the squad was at. The importance of, if he came in, the impression he'd make on a lot of young men.

Kinda weird how unplanned and slapped together our backline is yet now seems like Dave is a tactical genius. Guess he plays with what's in front of him.

Yeah he straight out said Kellaway was not in their plans.

100% agree, he's very good in the maul and gets around the park well. But too often he is losing the collision. He should stay in Aus and put some weight on, I don't see him getting any game time anyway. Skelton/ Arnold/ Phillip/ Rodda will all be selected ahead of him. Even if we had an injury, heck I'd bring in Adam Coleman.
Adam Coleman last time he played out here was pants.. I'd take Swain over him ...

Theres still 4 alternative’s ahead of they occurring anyway, which is the point as it would mean 2 players injured.

Depending whether Leota tours, he is also an alternative for lock if there’s mass injuries

Does make you wonder, whether the QC (Quade Cooper) we're seeing now is a by-product of Thorn's actions, if it isn't, I'd love to know what on behind closed doors between QC (Quade Cooper) and Thorn.

Does he still hold a grudge from 'kneeing' Sir Richie????

Thorn got the top job to stand down QC (Quade Cooper) because Stiles wouldn’t. Guess who orchestrated it?

Skelton, Latu & Arnold in squad.
No Beale.
Sweating on Kerevi for first match against Scotland, if not ready Paisami comes, if Kerevi is fit Paisami stays behind with young family.

If Kerevi is not 100% when they get on the plane to Japan it is a big risk to leave Paisami behind. Maybe we see a 10 Quade 12 JOC (James O'Connor) against Japan?

Coleman was great when he first played for the Wallabies and then his form dropped right off. But he was still quite young at the time.

Given that our current squad contains guys like Fainga'a, Latu (apparently), Slipper, Skelton, White, Cooper, O’Connor, Kellaway et al - all of who were either dropped, overlooked and/or fell from grace at some point maybe we should be willing to keep an open mind.

Agreed TSR.
I liken Coleman to Swinton, great intent on the field with a high work rate. Sometimes his accuracy and discipline got the better of him. With his experience overseas and a bit of time to mature, he could do a Kellaway and come back to the international fold as a gun.

Also the younger then arnold and skelton. In 2020 after the giteau law exemption, Rennie tried to get Arnold but he got injured, so he wanted Coleman but he got surgery, so he settled on Simmons.

If you were to run out the top 4 aus locks tomorrow I think they would be Arnold, Skelton, Rodda & Coleman (also they are all massive even for locks). Philip, Swain and LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) (more normal sized) Battling it out for a shot to take Colemans spot. Hockings, Frost and Hosea in the development pile (and are also massive) waiting for Arnold and Skelton to age out/over take Philip & Coleman
