Wallabies 2021

The teams that can handle disruption will have an advantage over the teams that cannot. I reckon Rennie is the sort of coach who will prosper in this environment, from what I can see he seems to be implacable in the face of adversity.

If it's only the Japan game he's out for we'll get by, Samu is adequate coverage there. If it's longer they'll probably fly McReight in.

I think it's more the fact that later in the article it mentions Suntory seem to have changed their tune regarding player availability. Since Kerevi's ankle injury they are considering rescinding their ability to play at all on the Spring Tour.

I have raised this before as a problem, the Japanese clubs are paying top dollar for Aussie players who they believed would be unavailable for Wallabies selection, therefore devoting their time solely to the club. Things have changed now. I wonder if RA will end up offering to offset some of the player contracts in future if these issues persist.

Don't think they can rescind their offer can they, isn't the spring tour an international window? They can definitely make it harder though.

No my understanding was they had already been released for the standard amount of games, and were being granted special permission to play the other 4 games. The article seems to suggest that as well.

It's only the Japan game that is outside the international window.

They have to release the players for the 3 European tests if asked under regulation 9.

Rennie also said they were talking to the clubs regardless of reg 9 to try and build a positive relationship with them going forward - rather than just swooping in and taking them.

If there was significant push back from the club I imagine Rennie would consider acquiescing.

I don't think Sean will be missed at all, but if they're not available, Quade and Kerevi will leave massive holes in the team.

There is a fair step down from Quade to JOC (James O'Connor) and who will be the backup? Lolesio for further development? Spanners if he's available?

Paisami is closest to Kerevi in style of play, but as shown over TRC and Bledisloes, not yet near Samu's standard. Hodge could be an option, again way down on standard, but seems he's needed at 15. JOC (James O'Connor) can't play both spots, so it will be 10 for him.

Hopefully none of this will come to pass.

I think we will see an all Reds 9/10/12 for Japan

Sorry Cyclo, for those not familiar with the Hossary of Nicknames (TM) - Bernard Foley. Every time he touched the ball Hoss' nuts would tighten.

Any notable absences from the Japanese squad? I noticed no Horie, Mafi or Matsushima, but not sure if they're all still in the frame (assume Clermont didn't release Matsu)

Wow, didn't realise the reds had signed up White, Cooper and Kerevi? Must have missed that headline..... :p
I would normally find that funny, but we already know Kerevi isn't playing, so I've gone to my dark place of assuming you haven't read many headlines at all and should read more. It's been one of those days.
