^ unlikely to be in time for the TT portion of SRP (Super Rugby Pacific), though, so the NZ teams will be calling Aus home for a few weeks after the Melbourne super round.

Or maybe it will...

"Cabinet will shortly consider bringing forward previously signalled dates for remaining groups, including other visa holders from April - such as migrant families living in New Zealand, Australians and visitors from visa waiver countries by July, and all others from October."

Worth noting that the recommendations that resulted in the relaxations announced yesterday only landed on PM's desk on Sunday afternoon so there is reason to believe thIngs can move quite quickly.

^ yeah, so much for "peaceful protest ", eh. Special disgust for the cowards using kids as shields.

Edit: meanwhile there's now over 400 in hospital (10 in ICU) Inc at least three from Camp Covid. Is it mean of me to suggest they should've been told "it's only the flu: go home, take panadol & drink lots of water"?

I read they were throwing shit at police. I mean really, who throws a turd?

The same people who...

- drink their own piss
- share medical misinformation about the vaccines not being effective/harming us/causing English soccer fans to drop dead from heart attacks
- promote Ivermectin
- believe various government officials are satanic freemason paedophile occultist illuminati lizard people
- assault and shout down the media as being "fake news" while getting all of their news from questionable sources

Perfectly sums up those left at the bitter end. Unfortunately their actions mean that the people there at the beginning with genuinely-held (if IMO misguided & misinformed but still worthy of consideration as to whether there was in fact overreach) concerns wrt mask & vaccine mandates will forever be tarred with the same brush & those concerns never looked into.

Another quality to add to your list...

Takes a special kind of stupid to pull a stunt like that in Wainuiomata.

Interesting article on the differences between personal & collective freedom.

Unfortunately the people who would benefit most from reading & understanding it probably won't.
Anyone who can write, read, or believe restrictions designed to protect us from Covid-19 actually enhance our overall freedom must be suffering from a fatal dose of cognitive dissonance.
* To think that compulsory house detention leads to freedom is ridiculous.
* Forcing people to leave their jobs and in many cases lose those jobs is not a freedom.
* Banning people from travelling interstate or overseas is the opposite of freedom.
* Preventing Australians from going to a Queensland hospital because "Queensland hospitals are for Queenslanders" is a draconian freedom stripping action of a near-totalitarian government.
* Forcing people to take a medical procedure is the last thing that a definition of freedom entails.
* Shooting protestors is not an exercise in freedom.
* Banning people from seeing dying loved ones and severely restricting their access to funerals doesn't happen in free societies.
* Banning church attendance is anti-freedom at its very essence.

In summary, taking by force the individual's right to personal decision making is diametrically opposed to the concept of freedom.

The following definition of freedom tells us that none of the restrictions are in any way associated with freedom, even if you equivocate between nebulous concepts as negative and positive freedom:

Freedom: noun

  1. The condition of not being in prison or captivity.
  2. The condition of being free of restraints, especially the ability to act without control or interference by another or by circumstance.
  3. The condition of not being controlled by another nation or political power; political independence.
Finally, relying on The Conversation for any semblance of scholarship is laughable. More far left and big-government biased you can't imagine.

And yet you're happy to quote the Daily Mail. Lifting a section from wikipedia, "It has also been noted for its unreliability and widely criticised for its printing of sensationalist and inaccurate scare stories of science and medical research, and for instances of plagiarism and copyright infringement. In February 2017, the Daily Mail became the first source to be deprecated as an "unreliable source" for use as a reference on the English Wikipedia."

I can't be bothered finding any more references to the disreputability of this rag.

I'll never get that time back.
Steve Waterson in today's Australian makes a strong comment about one of the the freedoms we have been denied:

At best we tacked an extra couple of months on to the lives of some very old people in nursing homes, then immediately cancelled whatever benefit that afforded them by turning their last weeks into a lonely, bewildering, miserable slide towards the grave, when they were forbidden to see family and friends and were attended by carers dressed like astronauts. They’re mostly dead by now, but I trust they slipped away with a message of gratitude on their lips.

So, FF (Folau Fainga'a), clarify for me - what restrictions would you have enforced for COVID, if you were the Premier or PM? None at all?
