Pasitoa suffers for being in a shit team but has had some strong performances.

How TF did the reds not manage to grab one of these young flyhalves?

Too much money tied up with JOC (James O'Connor), he would be highest paid back for sure.

Then decided to invest in the future and sign Lynagh to a full contract when he likely won't play for the Reds until 2024.

Pathway to flyhalf at the Reds looked pretty shit for a young bloke - either try and supplant JOC (James O'Connor), or possibly get shafted after 1 season for Lynagh.

I should note I think guys like Carter Gordon and Pasitoa signed with their franchises prior to JOC (James O'Connor) becoming an injury magnet, the thinking around who to sign would probably have been different now.

Don’t think Swinton is available…..Pasitoa, and Pietsch could be in there?

wouldn't a load of the non playing test squad get game time in the Aus A's?

My understanding is they are running two squads, and some of the fringe blokes (like McReight) have been selected in the A squad to play minutes, rather than hang out and train with the main squad.

The Australia A squad will be in Fiji for three weeks presumably. Not really an option to have players from the main squad fly over to Fiji after the team is announced on the Thursday to arrive for a captain's run before the A game.

What will be interesting is the split between youth and experience.

Do you bring in someone like Prior (yes I know it wont be him but cbf thinking of someone else at the moment) to support the development of the younger players?

Intentions of the team are still unclear.

Is the goal to win the Pacific Championship? Or to get young players into international setups and working towards a goal of playing for the Wallabies. They are slightly different in what we want to achieve, if the goal is to win the tournament, we need to field a strong team regardless of age or future involvement with the Wallabies.

I think it is more for development reasons though.

Until we know that, people are going to be blowing up about selections either way, i.e. he's too young for a run or he's too old

Eloff not eligible yet even if it was 3 years,

Surely Ulese gets a look in, there is no way he is outside the best 6 hookers
